MoE, IIT Kanpur's SATHEE Begin Outreach to Transform KVs, NVs, CBSE Schools Exam Preparation

The Ministry of Education and IIT Kanpur announced the successful outreach of SATHEE (Self-Assessment Test and Help for Entrance Exams), an online education platform to empower the millions of students preparing for competitive exams across the country.
This platform was unveiled by K. Sanjay Murthy, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, in an event at Shastri Bhawan in presence of other invited dignitaries.
SATHEE offers a comprehensive suite of resources for NEET and JEE aspirants, including video lectures from faculties of IITs and IISc.
The outreach of SATHEE is an important step towards bridging the educational divide in India. The creation of the platform simplifies and enhances the learning process for competitive exams.

President Draupadi Murmu Inaugurates Eklavya Residential School in Mayurbhanj

President Draupadi Murmu inaugurated an Eklavya Model Residential School in the tribal-dominated Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, rekindling memories of her own childhood. The event took place at Kuliana, where the President, hailing from Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj, expressed delight at the school's infrastructure.
President Murmu, the first person from the tribal community to hold the nation's highest office, conveyed confidence that this initiative would provide local children with enhanced educational opportunities.
Expressing satisfaction, President Murmu highlighted the nationwide establishment of over 700 Eklavya Model Residential Schools. These institutions aim to provide quality education to more than 3.5 lakh tribal students across India, enabling them to contribute to the development of society and the nation.

Abu Dhabi Added as Examination Centre for JEE Main 2024

The National Testing Agency (NTA) added Abu Dhabi as an examination city for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – 2024.
Based on the request of the Ambassador of India, Abu Dhabi to support the student community of Abu Dhabi, it was decided to add Abu Dhabi as an examination city for the JEE (Main) – 2024. The cities of Dubai and Sharjah are already examination cities for the JEE (Main) – 2024.

Dharmendra Pradhan Launches PM SHRI Scheme to Develop Schools in Odisha

In a significant move, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme in Odisha. The initiative aims to enhance the development of thousands of schools across the country. Out of the 97 Central Schools and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, the scheme will be initially rolled out in 63 institutions managed by the Centre within the state.

IIT Madras Unveils India's First Incubator Information Platform for Start-ups

In a groundbreaking move, the Centre for Research on Start-ups and Risk Financing (CREST) at IIT Madras, in collaboration with YNOS, introduced 'Incubators'.
This innovative platform aims to consolidate information on India's diverse incubators and accelerators, easing the start-up selection process.
Incubators play a crucial role in a start-up's early journey. The new platform 'Incubators' serves as a game-changer, simplifying the identification, comparison, and analysis of these support systems.
For the first time, founders can access a centralised hub, mitigating the tedious task of individually researching the plethora of incubators.

Amazon India, AICTE Join for Skill Development of Women Tech Students

Amazon India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to extend its initiative, Amazon WoW (Women of the World). This programme is designed to empower and equip women students enrolled in engineering colleges across India with essential skills to thrive in the technology industry.
This programme is open to any women student who is currently pursuing a four-year BTech/BE or two-year MCA, M.Tech/ME programme or five year dual degree.
The programme offers workshops on coding, problem-solving, tech interviews, and data structures and algorithms, equipping female students in their application and selection processes. Through Amazon WoW, over 900 women have secured internships or full-time opportunities at Amazon.

Italy's Istituto Marangoni Explores India Campus under New UGC Rules

Ranked among the world's top 100 art and design institutes, Italy's Istituto Marangoni, boasting alumni such as Franco Moschino, founder of the Italian fashion brand Moschino, and designer Rahul Mishra, the first Indian to win the Woolmark Prize, is likely to apply under the new regulations of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish a branch campus in India.
Marangoni already operates independent branch campuses in Milan, Paris, London, and Shanghai. Additionally, it has a presence in India through a vocational institute in Mumbai; however, it only offers certificate courses.

Assam Government Approves Merger of SEBA and AHSEC

In a significant move towards educational reform, the Assam Cabinet gave its nod for the merger of the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). The amalgamated entity will now be known as the 'Assam State School Education Board'(ASSEB). This decision is aimed at enhancing the quality and standards of school education in the state.
The official statement released by the government highlighted the primary objective of the merger – "To develop, regulate and supervise the standards and quality of School Education."
The decision to merge SEBA and AHSEC aligns with the broader vision outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

UGC Proposal Allows Postgraduate Students Flexibility in Selecting Courses

The University Grants Commission (UGC) released a draft proposal that seeks to reform postgraduate education and align it with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The document, 'Curriculum and Credit Framework for Postgraduate Programmes', proposes changes that include enhanced subject flexibility, expanded online programme offerings, the possibility of pursuing two postgraduate courses concurrently, and equating work experience with academic credits. The proposals align with NEP 2020's vision of multidisciplinary education.
