SASTRA Ramanujan Awards Presented Yunqing Tang and Ruixiang Zhang
The SASTRA-Ramanujan Awards for 2022 and 2023 were presented, respectively, to Yunqing Tang and Ruixiang Zhang, both mathematicians at the University of California in Berkeley, at the SASTRA campus in Kumbakonam.
The award, instituted by SASTRA in 2005, with a cash prize of USD 10,000 and a citation, is presented annually to individuals aged 32 and below, who have made outstanding contributions in the field of mathematics. The awards are presented on the birthday of Ramanujan.

The Awards, recommended by distinguished Jury members in 24 Indian languages, were approved by the Executive Board of the Sahitya Akademi which met under the Chairmanship of Madhav Kaushik, President, Sahitya Akademi.
Established on March 12, 1954, the Sahitya Akademi is an autonomous body under the Union Culture Ministry, dedicated to the promotion of literature in Indian languages. Over the years, it has played a pivotal role in recognising and celebrating literary excellence across diverse linguistic landscapes in India.

Bhutan Top Honour for Former IAS officer Dr. Khetrapal
Retired Punjab cadre IAS officer of 1975 batch and WHO South-East Asia regional director Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh was awarded Bhutan's prestigious National Order of Merit Gold Medal for her distinguished services to the country.
Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk honoured Dr. Khetrapal at Bhutan's 116th National Day celebration.
Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh, the first woman regional director of WHO South-East Asia Region, played a pivotal role in supporting transformative healthcare leadership in Bhutan from 2014 to 2024. Her tenure witnessed remarkable strides, including Bhutan becoming one of the first countries to eliminate measles and rubella ahead of schedule.
Mohammed Shami to Receive Prestigious Arjuna Award; Satwik-Chirag to Get Khel Ratna for 2023
Veteran pacer and India's ODI World Cup hero Mohammed Shami will receive the Arjuna Award for 2023 after a stellar year for the nation as the Sports Ministry confirmed the list. The prestigious award came as another feather in the hat for the Indian pacer who was the highest wicket-taker in the ODI World Cup with 24 wickets. Badminton duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are also on the award list as they will receive the Khel Ratna award for their contribution to the sport in 2023. Shami will join 25 other athletes as a recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award.

Gaja Capital Business Book Prize: 'Against All Odds', 'Winning Middle India' Joint Winners
The Gaja Capital Business Book Prize 2023 was jointly won by 'Against All Odds: The IT Story of India' by Kris Gopalakrishnan, N. Dayasindhu and Krishnan Narayanan, and 'Winning Middle India: The Story of India's New-Age Entrepreneurs' by T. N. Hari and Bala Srinivasa.
The Rs. 15 lakh cash prize is awarded annually to authors of narrative non-fiction about Indian business and entrepreneurship.

Genrobotics among Top Three Indian Start-ups at Global AI Summit
Genrobotics, a Kerala-based start-up acclaimed for leveraging technology for social change, was adjudged among top three Artificial Intelligence (AI) start-ups of India at the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit 2023 organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in New Delhi.
Genrobotic's G-gaiter Robotic Technology won the award in 'AI Game Changers' category at the summit held at Bharat Mandapam, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT presented the award to Afsal Muttikkal, Regional Director, Genrobotics Medical and Mobility and Arun Dominic, Regional Business Development Manager.
Genrobotics was honoured for its outstanding innovation in healthcare by developing G Gaiter, an advanced AI-powered robotic gait trainer.
G Gaiter trains people who lose mobility due to stroke, spinal injury, accidents, Parkinson's disease and similar conditions to recover faster with minimal dependency on others.
