H. S. Dhaliwal New DGP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) appointed senior IPS officer H. S. Dhaliwal as the new Director General of Police of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Prior to his new role, Dhaliwal, a 1997-batch IPS officer, served as the special commissioner of police in New Delhi, overseeing traffic zone-II.
Throughout his career, Dhaliwal has achieved significant milestones, including solving high-profile cases such as the Dhaula Kuan gangrape, journalist Saumya Vishwanathan's murder, and the Jigisha Ghosh murder case. He also played a crucial role in investigating the murder case involving Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
Meanwhile, incumbent DGP Devesh Chandra Srivastva has been transferred to New Delhi.

Indian Army Contingent to Participate in Joint Military Ex Khaan Quest 2024 in Mongolia

The Indian Army contingent will participate in the 21st edition of the multinational joint military exercise Khaan Quest 2024, which is scheduled to be held in Mongolia.
The joint military exercise will be held from July 27 to August 9.
Khaan Quest 2024 is aimed at enhancing the interoperability of the participating nations during peacekeeping missions in a multinational environment.

10% Reservation for Ex-Agniveers in CAPFs, Assam Rifles

The government decided to reserve 10 per cent of vacancies in the Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles for ex-Agniveers, the Rajya Sabha was informed.
A provision was made for relaxation in the upper age limit and exemption from the Physical Efficiency Test in the recruitment to the post of constable (general duty) and rifleman in the CAPFs and Assam Rifles for ex-Agniveers, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said.

Goa Shipyard Launches First Indigenous P1135.6 Frigate 'Triput'

In a significant achievement for India's naval capabilities and the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative, Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) successfully launched the first indigenous P1135.6 Frigate, named Triput. This marks the first time these vessels are being constructed indigenously in India.
The ship was launched by Adv. Rita Sreedharan, with Goa Governor P. S. Sreedharan Pillai as the Chief Guest.
The 124-meter-long ship can reach speeds of 28 knots at a displacement of approximately 3200 tonnes and is equipped with advanced state-of-the-art weaponry and sensors. The frigate features indigenous components, including specialised low-carbon micro-alloy grade steel for the hull and various systems developed by private industry.

Captain Supreetha C.T. Breaking Barriers at Siachen Glacier

In a landmark moment for gender equality and women's empowerment in the Indian Armed Forces, Captain Supreetha C.T. etched her name in history by becoming the first woman officer from the Corps of Army Air Defence to be operationally deployed at the Siachen Glacier. This achievement not only highlights her personal valour but also marks a significant step forward in the ongoing integration of women into frontline combat roles in the Indian Army.
Captain Supreetha embarked on her military career by joining the Indian Army as a Lieutenant in 2021. Her initial posting was in the Army Air Defence, following comprehensive training in Chennai.

Turkey Imposes a Ban on Defence Exports to India

Turkey banned the export of military products to India. Mustafa Murat Sekar, a Turkish defense official, announced this in a meeting. The ban is due to Turkey's friendship with Pakistan, as India has been opposing Turkey's support for Pakistan in the Kashmir issue on international platforms.
