BCCI Orders 72 Pink Balls From SG

  •  The BCCI has asked manufacturer SG to deliver 72 pink balls for India's first-ever day-night Test, to be held at the Eden Gardens from November 22, 2019.
  • The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has already confirmed that SG pink balls will be used for the landmark game, leaving the manufacturer with very little room for error.
  • The BCCI confirmed that SG pink balls will be used for India's first ever Test match under lights, against Bangladesh from November 22, 2019 in Kolkata.

Shakib Al Hasan: Bangladesh Captain Banned Over 'Corrupt Approaches'

  •  Bangladesh Test captain Shakib Al Hasan has been given a two-year ban for "failing to report corrupt approaches".
  • The 32-year-old accepted three charges relating to requests for "inside information for betting purposes".
  • The approaches came during an international tri-series also involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in January 2018, and that year's Indian Premier League.
  • Shakib is the top all-rounder in the one-day international rankings and has played 338 matches for Bangladesh.

Swaroop Singh Kuntal Becomes Fastest Indian To Complete Ironman Malaysia

  •  Langkawi Island became the fastest Indian to complete Ironman Malaysia in a record timing of 12 hours and 14 minutes.
  • The Ironman Malaysia was organised on October 26, 2019 at Langkawi Island in Malaysia. Athletes from all over the world participated in the event.
  • Ironman consists of 3.8 km of sea swimming followed by 180 km cycling and finally 42.2 km of running. All events are required to be done in a cut- off time of 17 hours.
  • Ironman Malaysia is one of the toughest competitions because it has an elevation of around 3000m in the 180 km cycling course.
  • During cycling maximum temperature reached 38°C and while running it reached 35°C. These harsh conditions tested the mental toughness and physical strength of the athletes.

England Fined £2,000

  • England have been fined £2,000 for crossing the halfway line as they lined up in a V formation to face the haka before their Rugby World Cup semi-final match against New Zealand.
  • World Rugby rules stipulate teams must remain within their own half of the pitch to receive the challenge.
  • Referee Nigel Owens and his team had to usher several England players back as they strayed over halfway.
  • England won the game 19-7 and will play South Africa in final.

Shtembuliak, Polina Crowned World Junior Chess Champions

  •  Indians finished medal-less after the overnight leaders, Armenia's Evgeny Shtembuliak and Russia's Polina Shuvalova, performed to expectations to claim their maiden World junior (under-20) chess crowns.
  • On a day when Armenian boys and Russian girls won two medals, the champions took contrasting routes on their home-run.
  • Polina, playing black, drew in just 30 moves against China's Song Yuxin and won the girls' title with a tally of 9.5 points from 11 rounds.

French Open: An Se Young Stuns Carolina Marin to Lift Title

  •  Korean teen sensation An Se-young stunned reigning Olympic champion Carolina Marin in an epic final to lift the women's singles title at the French Open badminton tournament.
  • The 17-year-old Korean erased a one-game deficit to beat the three-time World Champion 16-21, 21-18, 21-5 in a gripping 69-minute contest.
  • It was Se-young's fourth title of the season and first at BWF Super 750 level as she further underlined her growth as a world class shuttler.
  • Meanwhile, Rio Olympics champion fifth seed Chinese Chen Long grabbed the men's singles trophy with a 21-19, 21-12 win over Indonesia's Jonathan Christie in the final which lasted 51 minutes.

Lewis Hamilton Wins Mexican Grand Prix, but Waits for Sixth

  •  Lewis Hamilton's sixth Formula One title was kept on ice despite a hard-fought victory at the Mexican Grand Prix.
  • The Mercedes driver needed to finish 14 points clear of teammate Valtteri Bottas to take the overall championship, but the Finn's third-place finish means Hamilton will have to wait until next weekend's United States Grand Prix, where he is likely to wrap up the title.
  • Championship stakes aside, it was an intriguing race in Mexico with teams opting for different tire strategies -- some drivers pitting once, others twice -- as grid positions changed frequently throughout the contest.
  • Hamilton's Mercedes was unfancied before the race with Red Bull's Max Verstappen and the Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc quicker during qualifying.

Tiger Woods Wins 82nd PGA Tour Title to Equal Record

  •  Tiger Woods equalled the PGA Tour record of 82 tournament wins with victory at the Zozo Championship.
  • The 43-year-old world number 10 had seven holes to finish in Japan as he matched fellow American Sam Snead's record, set in 1965.
  • It was his first event since having his fifth knee operation nine weeks ago.
  • In April 2019, Woods won his first major for 11 years with victory at the Masters, leaving him three short of Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 major titles.
  • Snead was aged 52 when he won for the final time on the PGA Tour, while Nicklaus was 46 when he lifted the last of his major trophies.

Boxer Deepak loses finals World Military Games

  • Indian boxer Deepak lost the finals of the men's light fly 46-59 kg weight category against Zhussupov Temritas from Kazakhstan in the World Military Games in China and as a result, the Indian has to settle with a silver medal.
  • Temritas defeated Deepak 5-0 in the finals.

BCB to take Legal Action Against Bangladeshi Cricketer Shakib Al Hasan

  • Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will take legal action against the Bangladeshi cricketer Shakib Al Hasan for signing an agreement with Grameen phone to become its brand ambassador.
  • Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon said that Shakib's action violated the rules and regulations of the board as he did not seek permission from the board before entering into an agreement.
  • Taking a tough stand on the issue, Nazmul Hasan said that there is no question of sparing him if he is found guilty.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-ChiragShetty Bag Silver in Doubles Event at French Open

  • In Badminton, India's top men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost to world No.1 pair of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo in the finals of the French Open in Paris .
  • The Indian duo settled for silver after losing the final 18-21, 16-21. 
  • Satwik and Chirag had won their maiden Super 500 title at the Thailand Open earlier in August 2019. It was the first time that an Indian men's doubles pair reached a World Tour 750 final.
