Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and IATO Sign MoU
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, (MPTB) and The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) in Bhopal to strengthen, promote and develop cooperation in research, promotion and tourism development in Madhya Pradesh.
MPTB and IATO agreed to assist each other in promoting tourism in the state by organising travel visits to Madhya Pradesh, conducting FAM trips, engaging in marketing and awareness campaigns, exchanging publications and academic materials, co-organising travel and tourism trade events, and promoting tourism destinations through media and public relations.
MPTB and IATO will jointly identify some lesser-known but potential tourism sites for developing and marketing amongst tourists and create new circuits, and itineraries depending upon available approaches to the sites and comfortable accommodations at those locations.

Bangaluru Airport: Awarded the World's Most Punctual Airport
Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru secured the top position as the world's most punctual airport for the past three consecutive months, according to Cirium's 'The On-Time Performance Monthly Report.' The Kempegowda International Airport operated by Bangalore International Airport Limited maintained an impressive on-time departure experience for passengers, with 87.51 per cent punctuality in July, 89.66 per cent in August, and 88.51 per cent in September, a BIAL statement said.
Cirium's latest on-time performance (OTP) monthly report for September 2023 hailed KIA, stating, 88.51 per cent of Kempegowda International Airport's flights took off punctually. This achievement is a testament to KIA's unwavering commitment to efficiency and punctuality.

India-Sri Lanka Ferry Service Begins
The much-awaited passenger ferry service between India and Sri Lanka commenced operations, around 12 years after the plan was first mooted and a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two countries.
The ferry will operate between Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu and Kankesanthurai in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. The transit time is expected to be three hours.
The ferry service is operated by the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI). The service offers an excellent opportunity for the people of India and Sri Lanka to make a low-cost trip to Jaffna and Tamil Nadu.
The vessel used as the ferry is called Cheriyapani.

EaseMyTrip, Uttarakhand Govt. Sign MoU to Make State a Global Tourism Spot
Online travel tech platform EaseMyTrip and the government of Uttarakhand signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to elevate Uttarakhand's standing as a global tourism hotspot, under a deal worth over Rs. 250 crore.
The MOU was signed during the Global Investors Summit in London, in the presence of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The collaboration will witness the launch of an extensive series of dynamic joint marketing campaigns, strategically designed to target diverse markets such as the UK/Europe, the Middle East, Asia, US/Canada, and more. Leveraging EaseMyTrip's extensive global reach and robust platforms, these campaigns are poised to significantly amplify awareness and attract tourists and events to the captivating state of Uttarakhand.
Central Railway Station Awarded Platinum Shield by IGBC
The Dr. MGR Chennai Central railway station was awarded the platinum certificate by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) for developing the railway station into a net zero energy building. Southern Railway General Manager R. N. Singh received the IGBC platinum shield from Ajith Kumar Chordia, Chairman of IGBC.
The recognition was awarded for the station's efforts in becoming energy-efficient by utilizing renewable energy sources, such as a 1.80 MW rooftop solar plant, LED lighting, and energy-efficient fans. Additionally, a water recycling plant has contributed to water resource conservation, and these initiatives have collectively prevented the emission of 3,24,400 kilograms of carbon per year.

Ministry of Tourism to Host PATA Travel Mart 2023 in New Delhi
Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, will be hosting the 46th edition of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Travel Mart 2023 at the magnificent International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC), Pragati Maidan, in New Delhi.
The Mart is scheduled to take place from October 4 to 6, 2023, bringing together tourism professionals and business stakeholders from across the world. The physical version of the Travel Mart is being held after a hiatus of three years due to the pandemic.
The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) founded in 1951, with its Head Quarters in Bangkok, is a renowned not-for-profit association recognized internationally for its role as a catalyst in the responsible development of travel and tourism in the Asia Pacific region. PATA Travel Mart is one of the important international trade exhibitions catering to the tourism sector and it serves as a platform for trade interactions between global buyers and sellers mostly from the Asia Pacific region. The Mart will bring together exhibitors and attendees from diverse sectors, offering a unique platform for networking, learning and collaboration.
This year the event will feature different activities, including the prestigious PATA Gold Award, the PATA Youth Symposium, PATA Forum on Sustainability besides the B2B Mart. The event is being held at the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC), Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
