KREA University Hosted Second TEDx on 'Contradiction to Collaboration' Theme

Krea University hosted its second annual TEDxKrea University event with the theme 'From Contradiction to Collaboration' at its Sri City campus. The event had seven speakers from diverse fields who shared ideas and engaged in discussions.
This year's (2024) event highlighted the power of embracing contradictions as catalysts for innovation and progress and these talks explored how conflicting viewpoints can lead to creative solutions and drive holistic advancement.
Among the notable speakers was T. S. Tirumurti, former Ambassador of India to the United Nations, who set the tone with his diplomatic insights on navigating global contradictions. Vivek Krishnani, CEO of MovieVerse Studios, discussed the creative synergies between technology and storytelling in the film industry.

Yogi Adityanath Launches 'Vidya Shakti' Programme in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath officially launched the 'Vidya Shakti' programme, an initiative designed to revolutionise early education in rural parts of the state. The programme, developed in collaboration with IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, aims to introduce innovative learning techniques for students in grades 1, 2, and 3.
A standout feature of 'Vidya Shakti' is its focus on integrating online classes and virtual reality (VR) to enhance the learning experience, particularly in underserved areas. This cutting-edge approach seeks to make education more accessible and engaging for young students in Uttar Pradesh's rural communities.

IIT Madras Develops AI-powered Ultrasound Scanner for Sports Injury Diagnosis

IIT Madras researchers developed an innovative portable ultrasound scanner designed specifically for sports injury diagnosis and management.
This Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) device, created by the Centre of Excellence in Sports Science and Analytics (CESSA), could revolutionise how sports injuries are diagnosed, especially on the field, by providing immediate assessments.
The AI-powered POCUS scanner allows for real-time injury diagnosis during matches or training sessions. Medical professionals can quickly determine the extent of the injury and make crucial decisions on whether a player can continue to play.
The POCUS scanner has numerous advantages over traditional imaging techniques. Not only does it eliminate the use of radiation, but it also provides excellent resolution, making it safer and more efficient for sports-related injuries.

Motilal Oswal Foundation Donates Rs. 130 crore to IIT Bombay

Motilal Oswal Foundation and IIT Bombay formed a partnership to develop modern academic infrastructure and create a new programme for financial markets at the institute, backed by a Rs. 130 crore pledge from the foundation.
This contribution, one of the largest corporate donations to an Indian educational institution, aims to establish cutting-edge academic infrastructure and launch innovative programmes in financial markets.
Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay, expressed gratitude for the Motilal Oswal Foundation's contribution, noting how this partnership will boost IIT Bombay's infrastructure and enhance its stature in financial education.

Rajasthan to Offer MBBS in Hindi from 2024-25 after Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh

The Rajasthan government made an important move by announcing that MBBS courses will now be offered in Hindi, in addition to English, starting from the 2024-2025 academic session.
The decision, made on Hindi Diwas (September 14), follows in the footsteps of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, both of which have already implemented Hindi as a medium of instruction for their medical education. Last year (2023), Uttarakhand had taken this decision.
This transition will begin with two medical colleges: Sampurnanand Medical College in Jodhpur and Medical College of Barmer. Both institutions, affiliated with Marwar Medical University, will offer Hindi as an option for students pursuing their MBBS degrees.

IIT Madras Partners with Ford to Train the Next Generation of Young Drivers

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras' Centre of Excellence for Road Safety (CoERS) partnered with Ford to address the growing concern of road accidents involving young drivers. The initiative aims to train the young minds of the next generation of drivers.
The initiative aims to equip thousands of students from 240 schools in Tamil Nadu with essential road safety knowledge and skills through master trainers.
Towards this objective, this programme by IIT Madras and Ford focuses on practical training, emphasising responsible driving on the roads. The CoERS, IIT Madras, and Ford signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in August 2024 towards this collaboration.

Government Approves MBBS Programmes at 5 New Medical Colleges in Uttar Pradesh (14)

The Union Health Ministry approved the commencement of MBBS programmes at five newly established medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, seat capacity at medical colleges in Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur were increased from 50 to 100. This move is part of efforts to expand medical education and healthcare infrastructure in the state.
This has led to the addition of 600 new MBBS seats, raising the total number of new seats in the state to 1,200 for the 2024-25 academic session.
