J&K Samagra Shiksha E-launches Talaash App for Mapping Out of School Children
In an effort to track the education of children across the state, the Samagra Shiksha, Department of School Education, Jammu and Kashmir, has e-launched the 'Talaash' app for mainstreaming of Out of School Children (OOSC).
The app was launched by Project Director Samagra Shiksha J&K, Dr. Arun Manhas. The OOSC programme aims to enumerate and keep track of OOSC in a timely and quality manner, through intensive data analysis and monitoring.
The application is meant for easy use on smartphones by teachers and others, conducting the mapping/surveys. It would make data collection and entry one step, eliminating the need for a manual compilation of data and for sending to the block or any other level for data entry.

Indian Classical, Bollywood, Bhangra in England's New Music Curriculum
Indian classical music, Bollywood hits and Bhangra beats are among the diverse musical traditions included in England's new music curriculum guidance for schools.
The Department for Education (DfE) said that the plan for all schools in England is aimed at giving more young people the opportunity to listen to and learn about music through the ages and across cultures.
Kishori Amonkar's 'Saheli Re', Anoushka Shankar's 'Indian Summer', A R Rahman's 'Jai Ho' and Bollywood box-office hit 'Munni Badnam Hui' are among the Indian musical references included in the DfE guidance for schools.
IIM Bodh Gaya Launches 5-year Integrated Programme in Management
IIM Bodh Gaya launched its first integrated programme in management for the academic year 2021. The first three years will be for undergraduate studies and the latter two years will be for the core management studies, and the IPM course will culminate with an MBA.
The IPM offers a total of 60 seats for the candidates where 50 seats are gender-neutral and 10 seats are reserved for female candidates under the supernumerary quota. The candidates will be selected on the basis of the Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test (JIPMAT). The JIPMAT will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) that conducts entrance test like JEE Main, NEET.
IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu have come together to conduct JIPMAT across 78 cities in India.

Ministry of Skill Invites Applications for Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship
Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, in association with 9 IIMS has invited applications for "Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship" till March 27, 2021.
The programme has invited application in collaboration with IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM-Jammu, IIM Udaipur, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Nagpur, IIM Visakhapatnam, IIM Lucknow and IIM Ranchi. It comprises of classroom sessions at IIMs and unique opportunity in order to promote skill planning and development across district economies. It provides a unique opportunity for young and dynamic individuals in order to combine classroom sessions at IIM with engagement in district economies in a bid to promote skill development and skill planning.
Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship 2021-2023 was launched by the 'Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship'. It is a two-year fellowship programme, launched to boost skill development at district level. It has been designed under 'Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP)'. It seeks to address challenge of non-availability of personnel for implementation of several programmes at national, state and district levels. It comprises of an in-built component of on-ground practical experiences with district administration. This scheme was launched in 75 districts across Gujarat, Meghalaya, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Now, the programme has been rolled out across 660 districts in India.

Kavya Chopra Becomes First Female to score 100 Percentile in JEE
Kavya Chopra became the first female to top the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, results of which were released. She scored a perfect 300 in the exam held in the March session. She had scored 99.978 in the February session but decided to reappear as she set a benchmark for herself of scoring not less than 99.98 percentile.
A student of DPS Vasant Kunj in Delhi, Chopra's academic life has been full of achievements. She scored 97.6 per cent in CBSE class 10 exams.
An active participant in maths and science olympiads, she had qualified in the Regional Maths Olympiad (RMP) in class 9 and 11. She has also cracked IOQP, IOQC IOQM – some of the few prominent olympiads.
CBSE Launches Competency Based Assessment FRAMEWORK Aligned with NEP
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) launched a competency-based assessment framework for classes 6-10 for three subjects -- English (reading), Science, and Maths.
The framework is a part of the CBSE Competency Based Education Project that aims to replace the existing rote learning model as directed in the new National Education Policy (NEP) over the next 2-3 years.
The CBSE has had a collaboration with British Council and three UK agencies, Cambridge, NARIC and Alphaplus who are helping CBSE in attaining this objective. The work has already started, and significant progress has been made and we do look forward to this co-operation and working with British Council in the future.
