Delhi Metro Launches First Indigenous Signal System

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) took a major step towards development of an indigenously-built communication-based train control with the launch of i-ATS — the first Made-in-India signalling system.
The ATS (or Automatic Train Supervision) is a computer-based system, which manages train operations, including basic functioning such as running and halting. The i-ATS will significantly reduce the dependence of Indian Metros on foreign vendors dealing with such technologies.

Dusit International to Re-enter India, Announces Partnership with Jain Group

Thailand's Dusit International, one of Asia's fastest-growing hospitality chains, announced its expansion into India with real estate and hospitality major Jain Group. The tie up between the Jain Group and Dusit International will set up a new 126-room property at an investment of Rs. 75-80 crore in Kolkata's New Town Rajarhat, marking another foray by the Jain Group into the hospitality sector.
Slated to open in the second quarter of 2022 as part of Jain Group's high-end residential development project, Dream One, Dusit Princess Serviced Suites Kolkata, will also be the first Dusit-branded property in India.
India is one of the top source markets for Dusit Hotels and Resorts worldwide, with Indian travellers second only to Chinese in terms of room nights generated in 2019.

Travel Firms 'Desperately Need' Government Help

The UK's travel industry has reached a "critical point" and is calling for further support to stem job losses.
According to the travel industry trade body ABTA, measures to curb the pandemic have already led to the loss of around 39,000 jobs.
About 65% of travel firms have had to make redundancies or start a consultation process.
As per ABTA, the industry desperately needs "tailored support" or many more jobs would be lost.
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) warned that more job losses were set to come as the government's furlough scheme is phased out, unless new support measures are introduced.

Among Top Tourism Markets, India at Bottom of Recovery Chart

Still in the grip of the coronavirus, the hospitality industry in India, a key contributor to the tourism sector, is among the slowest to recorver in the world. Data mined by RateGain, a travel and hospitality technology provider that provides technological support to hotels, online travel agencies, airlines and car rental firms among others has shown that among the top 16 tourism markets in the world, India is at the third last place in hotel bookings recovery that ended in the first week of August 2020 in comparism to the same period in 2019.
The RateGain data referes to booking and pricing patterns obtained from nearly 3,000 hotels iin India and 2.5 lakh hotels across the globe.Among the hotels in India to which RateGain offers technological support and whose booking patterns the company had tracked include the Hyatt Group and the Taj Group of hotels, Marriott, Lemon Tree and Royal Orchid.
The company said that the challenging trend is expected to continue with the pandemic affecting key tourist hubs like Goa, Rajasthan, the north-east and Karnataka.

Hospitality partners can leverage the Amazon Business marketplace as a one-stop destination to access a wide range of products across categories to cater to their various needs and procure products in a safe and efficient manner.
They will get access to deals from over 3.5 lakh sellers across the country.
The partnership will help our sellers reach lakhs of hotels across the country as they kick-start operations again.
Yatra provides bookings for more than 108,000 hotels in India and over 1,500,000 hotels around the world.

India and Maldives Ink Contract for Development of Five Eco-tourism Zones in Addu

India and Maldives signed a contract for development of five eco-tourism zones in Addu atoll of the island nation.
Maldives foreign secretary Abdul Ghafoor, MPs representing Addu city and Indian high commissioner Sunjay Sudhir participated in the ceremony.
These eco-tourism zones are part of grant projects being implemented under the High-Impact Community Development project (HICDP) scheme which involves a total grant assistance of 5.5 million US dollars to the Maldives.
