Amitabh Bhatt is New CEO (Bangalore Complex) at HAL

Amitabh Bhatt took over as Chief Executive Officer of Bengaluru-headquartered defence PSU, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's Bangalore Complex. Earlier, he was heading the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) project in HAL as Executive Director. Bhatt is a Post Graduate in Management and earlier served in SKF India Limited for 15 years before joining HAL.

Jaswant Singh Passes Away

Eminent Punjabi writer and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Jaswant Singh Kanwal died in his native village in Moga district.
The prominent Punjabi novelist, essayist and short-story writer had left school when he was a teenager and went to Malaya (present-day Malaysia), where he got interested in literature.
In 1996, he was bestowed the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship award for his book ''Pakhi'' (Hand Fan) and two years later in 1998, he received the Sahitya Akademi award for his novel ''Taushali Di Hanso''.
He received the Sahitya Shiromani Award of the Punjab government in 2007 and the following year, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, conferred on Kanwal the degree of Doctor of Literature (Honoris Causa) for his contribution to Punjabi literature.

WeWork Appoints Sandeep Mathrani as CEO

Collaborative workspace start-up WeWork appointed Sandeep Mathrani as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and board member.
This comes against the backdrop of the departure, in September 2019, of co-founder and CEO Adam Neumann and a failed attempt at an initial public offering.
Mathrani succeeded co-CEOs Artie Minson and Sebastian Gunningham, both of whom helped stabilise WeWork over the past few months. Minson and Gunningham would remain with the company through a transition period to ensure a smooth on boarding process.
SoftBank Corp. funded WeWork, which is on the path of reorganisation after a spate of events in 2019, said Mathrani will join on February 18, 2020 and report to Executive Chairman Marcelo Claure.

IBM Picks Arvind Krishna as Next Chief Executive

Indian-origin executive Arvind Krishna was appointed Chief Executive Officer of global tech firm IBM replacing long-time CEO Virginia Rometty.
From policy-makers to fellow Indian-origin executives, the news has been quite well-received on social media.
With this news, Krishna has joined the growing list of Indian-origin executives heading some of the biggest multinationals across the globe alongside Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, MasterCard CEO Ajay Banga and Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen.

Noted Punjabi Novelist Dalip Kaur Tiwana Passes Away

Noted Punjabi novelist Dalip Kaur Tiwana, 84, passed away.
The Padma Shri recipient and Sahitya Akademi awardee was admitted at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital for past three weeks after she fell ill due to the extreme cold weather.
In 2015, Tiwana had returned the Padma Shri bestowed on her to express solidarity with writers protesting against suppression of freedom of expression and growing communalism.

Anurag Dahiya Appointed as ICC's Chief Commercial Officer

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the appointment of Anurag Dahiya as the Chief Commercial Officer of the world's cricket governing body.
ICC CEO Manu Sawhney said that he is delighted to welcome a commercial leader of Anurag's calibre to the ICC. Aurag brings extensive experience across the commercial, content and media rights functions that are so important if ICC is to achieve its long-term ambition for global growth.
He will take up the post of ICC Chief Commercial Officer in early March and will be based at the ICC headquarters in Dubai.

First Woman Chief Technology Officer at FCC

Monisha Ghosh, an Indian-American was appointed as the first woman Chief Technology Officer at the US government's powerful Federal Communications Commission (FCC). She will advise Indian-American Chairman of the FCC Ajit Pai and the agency on technology and engineering issues. She will also work closely with the Office of Engineering and Technology. Dr. Ghosh took charge in January 2020. She replaced Dr. Eric Burger.
FCC refers to Federal Communications Commission. It was established on 19 June 1934 by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It's headquartered in Washington, USA. It is an independent agency of the United States government created by statute to regulate interstate communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable.

Kartik Sharma Joins Omnicom Media Group as India CEO

Kartik Sharma, former South Asia CEO of GroupM-owned media agency Wavemaker, was appointed as Omnicom Media Group's chief executive for India operations.
In his new role, Sharma will work closely with Priti Murthy, chief executive of OMD India, and Jyoti Bansal chief executive of PHD Media India, on chartering the continued growth of the agency brands in India.
OMD India and PHD Media India are a part of the larger Omnicom Media Group.

Rahul Bajaj to Step Down from Executive Role

Bajaj Auto's long serving Chairman Rahul Bajaj will step down from executive role to become a non-executive director while continuing to hold his current position.
Bajaj, who has been a director of the company since April 1, 1970, was last reappointed by the board for a five-year term with effect from April 1, 2015, and his term as executive chairman is expiring on March 31, 2020.
