IMD Releases New List of 169 Names of Tropical Cyclones
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released a new list with the names of 169 tropical cyclones that are likely to emerge over the north Indian Ocean, including the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.
The IMD is one of the six Regional Specialised Meteorological Centres (RSMCs) set up across the globe, along with five regional Tropical Cyclone Warning Centres (TCWCs) that are given the task of issuing advisories and names of tropical cyclones.

'Jal Shakti Abhiyan'—is all set to combat the health crisis and give a boost to the rural economy through its various components. This year (2020) owing to the COVID-19 emergency, and availability of large labour force in rural areas, the Abhiyan has started gearing up for the impending monsoon.
In a first of its case a Joint Advisory has been issued from the Department of Rural Development, Dept. of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Dept. of Land Resources & Dept of Drinking Water & Sanitation to all the Chief Secretaries of all States/ UTs, in context with the impending monsoon this year and the preparations to be done for water conservation and recharge which is of utmost importance for our country.

NIF Boosts New Varieties Of Anthurium, A Flower
D Vasini Bai, a women innovator from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has developed ten varieties of Anthurium, a flower with high market value, by cross-pollination. Anthurium (Anthurium spp.) is a vast group of beautiful blooming plants available in a wide range of colors.
The plants of the varieties are having high demands due to its use as indoor decorative plants. During the last year (2019), over 8500 plants, as well as the flowers, have been sold to the market of mainly Pune and Thiruvananthapuram.
The innovator has been propagating it through cuttings & seeds and supplying some plants and flowers throughout the country, but she was unable to meet the demand due to the time-consuming technique of propagation method.

Wildfires Rip Through Poland's Biggest National Park
Around 6,000 hectares of the Biebrza National Park - roughly 10% - are currently in flames as hundreds of firefighters attempt to get the blazes under control.
The Environment Ministry said the fire was most likely caused by farmers illegally burning grass.
The situation is worsened due to the fact Poland is currently experiencing its worst droughts in decades.

The US space agency's satellite sensors observed aerosol levels at a 20-year low post the countrywide lockdown, implemented to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

2019 was Europe's warmest year on record
Europe is heating faster than the global average as new data indicates that last year (2019) was the warmest on record.
While globally the year was the second warmest, a series of heatwaves helped push the region to a new high mark. Over the past five years, global temperatures were, on average, just over 1C warmer than at the end of the 19th century.
