Ganesh Utsav Begins Across The Country With Traditional Gaiety
The ten day long festival of Ganesh Utsav begins on September 2, 2019, with great devotion. The festival marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, who is a symbol of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. People place clay idols of Lord Ganesha in their home and worship them.
Ganesh Chaturthi is a major attraction in Maharashtra, where people celebrate it with great zeal. On the first day of the festival, devotees welcome the idols of Lord Ganesha to their homes and at public pandals in various parts of the state.

Culture & Tourism Minister Inaugurates Gallery Of Confiscated & Retrieved Antiquities At Purana Q...
Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel inaugurated gallery of confiscated and retrieved antiquities at Purana Quila in New Delhi.
Mr. Patel said, it is a matter of pride that it has been possible to retrieve the historical pieces of the heritage from abroad.
This is success of the efforts of the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the ancient antiquities, which were lost earlier, are now once again been retrieved.
He also said that the retrieved items will enhance the knowledge about our rich culture and heritage.
The number of antiquities recovered in the last five years is the highest ever. The recent success is because of our continuously improving cultural relations with various countries.
The gallery was established by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The displayed antiquities will sensitize the public towards the illegal trade of nation's heritage.
New Logo And Certificate Identity Of CBFC Unveiled
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) got a new logo and certificate design. These are being unveiled at a first-of-its-kind film industry interaction between eminent industry leaders and CBFC board members, in Mumbai on August 31, 2019.
The Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Shri Prakash Javdekar was Chief Guest. Secretary, Ministry of I&B, Shri Amit Khare was the Guest of Honour. The new logo and certificate identity was revealed by the Chairman, CBFC.
The new is design is futuristic in its approach and in sync with the new digital world; it is also interactive in its design sensibility.
The Chairman, Shri Prasoon Joshi, himself conceptualised the new look.The design has been done by designer Shri Rohit Devgun, with technical support from NSDL.

Paint the Town Red
More than 20,000 people pelted each other with ripe tomatoes in the annual Tomatina street battle in a town in eastern Spain that has become a major tourist attraction.
The party saw 145 tonnes of tomatoes offloaded from six trucks into crowds packing Buñol's streets for the midday hour-long battle.
The fight left participants and the surrounding streets awash in red pulp.
The event, costed 12 euros (about $13) for a basic ticket, with 5,000 tickets reserved for town residents and 17,000 for people from outside.
The event has been held for 74 years and was inspired by a food fight between local children in 1945 in the tomato-producing region.

Gujarat's Statue of Unity, Mumbai's Soho House In TIME's 100 Greatest Places 2019 List
Gujarat's 597-feet tall Statue of Unity and Mumbai's Soho House have landed on second annual list of TIME Magazine's World's Greatest Places 2019, a compilation of 100 new destinations to explore.
The Statue of Unity, dedicated to Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, is situated on the river island called Sadhu Bet in front of the Narmada Dam in Gujarat. It is the world's tallest statue at a height of 182 metres and a major tourist attraction.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed happiness that Statue of Unity has got a spot in the TIME 100 greatest places 2019 list.
Mr Modi also expressed happiness the water levels at the Sardar Sarovar Dam has reached a historic 134 metre. The Prime Minister shared some breathtaking pictures of the Dam and hoped that people will visit the iconic place and see the Statue of Unity.
NOAPS launched to seek approval for construction around protected monuments
The Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Patel launched the integrated NOC online application processing system (NOAPS) for the National Monuments Authority (NMA) in six states.
The process to seek approval for construction in prohibited and regulated areas around Archaeological Survey of India protected monuments will now be easier in six states, where 517 local bodies have made it online.
In order to automate the process of granting no objection certificate(NOC) for construction-related work in the prohibited and regulated areas, NMA designed, developed and implemented a web-enabled software application named 'NOC Online Application Processing System' (NOAPS) and launched it in September 2015.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Announces Rs 500 Crore Package To Develop Puri As World Heritage City
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a package of Rs 500 crore for the development of Puri as a World Heritage city. This is the second such big announcement by the Chief Minister for Puri which was battered by the very severe cyclonic storm Fani on May 3, 2019.
The package announced by the Chief Minister focuses on a range of modernisation plans which include infrastructure development, multi-lane roads, bridges, multi-level parkings, amenities for pilgrims, revival of Musa river, rehabilitation of those evicted from the security zone and renovation of lakes.
The Chief Minister had recently announced various projects worth Rs 265 crore for Puri under the Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture (ABADHA) scheme.
