President Kovind Gifts Statue Of Goddess Tara To His Philippines Counterpart

  •  President Ram Nath Kovind who is on a five-day visit to the Philippines gifted the statue of goddess Tara to his counterpart Rodrigo Duterte.
  • President Kovind gifted the statue of goddess Tara to President Durerte of Philippines. The gift highlights the ancient cultural connections between the two countries. The Golden Agusan Tara statue was discovered in the Philippines in the last century.

UP Culture Dept To Organise Training & Performance Programme Of KHON Ramlila

  •  The Culture Department of Uttar Pradesh government is going to organise the country's first training and performance programme of world famous KHON Ramlila, a masked form of Ramlila art of Thailand in collaboration with Thai government. Artists, who will get training from experts of Thailand as part of cultural exchange programme between two nations, will perform at Grand Deepotsav function which will be organised on 26th of October in Ayodhya.
  •  KHON Ramlila of Thailand is included in the list of UNESCO's Intangible cultural heritage and it's a form of masked dance depicting the scenes of Ramlila.

Jammu University Concludes 5 Day Youth Festival

  •  Jammu University concluded the five-day youth festival organized by the university. The youth festival which was inaugurated on October 11, 2019, was conducted by Jammu University's Bhaderwah campus in collaboration with the Rashtriya Rifles.
  • The Youth festival – Sangam 2019-20 which was conducted to promote peace and prosperity in the Chenab Valley region was held in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district.
  • The theme for this year's youth festival was 'Let's Build our Nation'. The youth festival saw a participation of over 1000 students from close to 32 colleges of the university.

10th National Cultural Festival To Be Held In MP

  • In Madhya Pradesh, the 10th edition of the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav-National Cultural Festival is being organized by the Union Ministry of Culture from 15th October to 21st October, 2019 under the 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat' campaign.
  • Governor Lalji Tandon and Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel will be present at the inaugural ceremony of the Festival being held in Jabalpur.
  • The National Cultural festival will display diverse forms of folk, art and culture of 22 states. The concept of National Cultural Festival was conceived in the year 2015. So far, the Ministry of Culture has organized nine such Festivals.
  • The festival is being organized in Madhya Pradesh for the second time. This time the festival will be held in Sagar and Rewa apart from Jabalpur.
  • Many famous artists like Suresh Wadkar, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Sabri Brothers, Shovana Narayan, Roopkumar and Sonali Rathore will perform during the Jabalpur leg of the festival.

New York's Museum Of Modern Art Set To Reopen

  •  New York's heralded Museum of Modern Art reopens in October 2019 after a multi-million-dollar makeover that will allow curators to display hundreds more works every year.
  • The museum has been closed for four months but will open again on October 21, 2019 following the latest renovations which increase the venerated institution's capacity.
  • MoMA, which moved to its current location in 1939, has undergone remodeling in 1950, 1962, 1980 and 2001 to cope with a growing collection and increased footfall.
  • Space was expanded by a third this time and director Glenn Lowry says the layout has been reinvented to reflect the philosophy of the museum's first director, Alfred Barr.

10th Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav To Be Held In Jabalpur From Oct 14-21

  •  The Governor of Madhya Pradesh Lalji Tandon, in the presence of Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel, will inaugurate the 10th Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav at Mahakoshal Shaheed trust, Gol Bazaar in the city of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
  • Ministry of Culture of the central government is organising the 10th edition of Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav under the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat initiative in Madhya Pradesh from October 14 to 21, 2019.
  • Renowned artists like Suresh Wadkar, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Sabri Brothers from Jaipur, Shovna Narayan, Roopkumar and Sonali Rathore, Saroja Vaidyanathan, Vikku Vinayaka Ram, Dr Satinder Sartaj, Anuradha Pal, Geeta Mahalik, Ronu Majumdar, Preeti Patel , Malini Awasthi, Tanushree Shankar and Anuradha Paudwal and many more will be part of this major festival.
  • Local artists under the theme of Mati Ke Lal are also invited to perform on the main stage. 

PM Modi Greets People On Occasion Of Valmiki Jayanti

  •  Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti. 
  •  Mr Modi said, the great thoughts of Maharishi Valmiki are the seed element of India's historical journey, on which the tradition and culture have flourished.
  • He said, a pillar of social justice, Maharishi Valmiki's messages will always inspire people.

Ancient 'New York': 5,000-Year-Old City Discovered In Israel

  •  The remains of a 5,000-year-old city have been discovered in Israel - the largest and oldest such find in the region.
  • The city was home to 6,000 people and included planned roads, neighbourhoods, a ritual temple and fortifications.
  • An even earlier settlement, believed to be 7,000 years old, was discovered beneath the city.
  • Israeli archaeologists said the discovery was the most significant in the region from that era.

Argentina's Holocaust Museum Takes Custody Of Seized Nazi Relics

  •  Argentina's Holocaust Museum has taken custody of a huge trove of Nazi artifacts seized in a house raid in the capital, Buenos Aires, two years ago (in 2017).
  • A bust of Adolf Hitler is among the 70 items investigators had found.
  • Another was a head-measuring device - a relic of pseudoscience used to supposedly measure racial purity.
  • The items were found hidden behind a false wall at the home of a collector in 2017. He said they were replicas but experts say they are authentic.
  • It is legal to own Nazi objects in Argentina, as long as they are not used to incite hatred.
  • But the owner has been charged with "owning pieces of illegal origin" because they are suspected of having been smuggled into Argentina.
