Uttar Pradesh's 'Paying Guest' Scheme to Promote Tourism in Ayodhya
The Uttar Pradesh government is transforming Ayodhya under its 'Navya Ayodhya' project. Within this, the state tourism department's Paying Guest scheme aims to upgrade accommodation and cuisine experiences for visitors.
The scheme focuses on enabling local residents to offer paying guest facilities and homestays for tourists, devotees and travellers. It taps into the rich Awadh culinary heritage to provide unique dining experiences featuring millet dishes.
The Paying Guest scheme opens up various income and self-employment avenues for locals. From hosting to cooking traditional Awadhi meals, new jobs get created around Ayodhya's tourism expansion under the government's push.

Puneet Chhatwal Takes Over as FAITH Chairman
The Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) announced the appointment of Puneet Chhatwal as its chairman. Chhatwal took over from Nakul Anand, the former Executive Director at ITC Hotels.
Chhatwal is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Indian Hotels Company Limited. He will also continue as the president of the Hotel Association of India (HAI), a position he was re-elected to in 2022.
Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) was inaugurated in May 2013. It is the apex body of the Tourism & Hospitality Industry in the private sector in India where, all the National Associations of Tour Operators, Travel Agents, Hotels, Transport Operators, Conventions & Exhibition Operators, Restaurants and Tourism Attractions are members.
FAITH, on behalf of the whole tourism industry engages in key policy and strategy ideation with Central and State Governments of India for growth of the Indian Tourism Industry.

Hyderabad, Bengaluru Airports Score High in Global On-Time Ranking
With over 84 per cent on-time departures, Hyderabad and Bengaluru airports have bagged the global second and third rank in Cirium's on-time performance review of 2023.
Kolkata airport stood ninth in the medium airports category with 83.9 per cent on-time flights. An on-time flight is defined as a flight that arrives within 15 minutes of the scheduled gate arrival.
Cirium classifies airlines and airports into various categories. For example, a global airport is one where airlines deploy 25-40 million seats each year and are connected to three different regions in the world. Medium airports are those where airlines deploy 15-25 million seats annually.
St Paul airport in Minneapolis, US, took the top spot among global airports, ahead of Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Tamil Nadu CM Stalin Inaugurates Kilambakkam Bus Terminus
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus. The Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus is one of the biggest developmental projects in Chennai and is situated by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) on GST Road near Vandalur.
The Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus has been named after former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi who was also popularly referred to as 'Kalaignar' (scholar of arts) for his literary contributions.
