Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is participating in IMEX, Frankfurt from 14-16 May 2024. The Ministry of Tourism aims to showcase the strengths of India as a leading MICE destination to the global market and to act as a catalyst to bring forth greater number of Conferences and Conventions to be hosted in the country.
IMEX is a hub for the global events industry, which offers a valuable and lucrative opportunity for professionals to enhance businesses, foster genuine connections, and gain invaluable insights.
Ministry has identified MICE as a niche sector to address the issue of seasonality and showcase India as a 365-days destination. In line with this effort, Ministry has introduced 'Meet in India' as a specialized sub-brand within the 'Incredible India' campaign. This sub-brand aims to enhance promotional initiatives, showcasing India as an appealing MICE destination equipped with top-tier connectivity, cutting-edge infrastructure, a vibrant knowledge hub, and a plethora of distinctive tourist attractions.

South African Tourism to Host over 40 Indian Trade Partners at Africa's Travel INDABA 2024

South African Tourism announced 'Africa's Travel INDABA 2024', will take place in the picturesque province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa from May 13 to 15. This year (2024), the event will host over 40 esteemed Indian trade partners. In a significant, strategic shift in South African Tourism's play in the Indian market, nearly 95 per cent of the contingent will consist of buyers from tier 2 and tier 3 cities. This move aims to spotlight the immense potential and opportunities these new source regions of India present.
Africa's Travel INDABA, a three-day trade show is more than just a platform for business transactions; it embodies a transformative experience, providing insights into global trends and local expertise.

India in Talks with Like-minded Countries to Regulate Tourism in Antarctica

India is working with like-minded countries to promote regulated tourism in Antarctica as a steady increase in the number of tourists threatens to harm the fragile ecology in the White Continent.
Discussion on regulating tourism in Antarctica will be on the agenda at Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM) and a meeting of Committee for Environmental Protection (CEP) scheduled to be held in Kerala's Kochi from May 20 to May 30.
"The problem is that tourism in Antarctica is not properly regulated. So this year, there is a discussion on its regulation," M Ravichandran, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, said.
The Ministry of Earth Sciences is hosting the 46th meeting of ATCM, the highest governing body for Antarctica, and the 26th CEP meeting.

Indian Airlines to Serve Half of Country's International Air Passenger Traffic by 2027-28

CRISIL anticipates Indian airlines' share in international passenger traffic to increase to around 50% by 2027-28, up from 43% in the previous fiscal year.
The growth will be propelled by Indian carriers expanding their fleets, opening new international routes, and benefiting from their robust domestic connectivity compared to foreign airlines.
With a higher share in international traffic, Indian airlines are expected to enhance their business profiles, as international routes tend to be more profitable than domestic ones.

Uttarakhand Govt. Announces 'Nakshatra Sabha' Astro Tourism Campaign

Uttarakhand Tourism partnered with Starscapes for Nakshatra Sabha, the India's first Astro Tourism initiative.
Activities include stargazing, solar observations, astrophotography contests, and camping.
Aim: Attract astronomy enthusiasts, adventurers, and travelers to marvel at the cosmos.
Scheduled to kick off in early June at George Everest in Mussoorie, it will continue until mid-2025.
