AI Delhi-San Fransisco Flight Could Be India's First To Fly Over North Pole

The Air India flight between New Delhi and San Francisco could be the first flight by an Indian airline to overfly the North Pole.
The country's aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has issued a circular seeking the interest of airlines interested in flying over the pole and Air India has expressed its interest .
Though many international airlines fly over the North Pole, no international airlines operating services from India currently use the route. And no Indian airlines has ever used it. Some international airlines flying from India to the US has previously used it, but they have since changed their route.
Flying the polar route saves time and fuel.

Govt Looks To Boost Tourism, Holds Key Meets

As part of its 100-day vision, the Union ministry of tourism is working on technological upgrades such as holograms at protected sites for tourists, as well as technically-endowed stickers for vendors and services affiliated to the ministry.
Holograms will be installed at sites protected under the Archaeological Survey of India with QR codes that will carry information on the site's history.
The move was to bring in greater transparency and to stop such services from making wrongful claims of an affiliation to the ministry.

Rixos Hotels inks deal to re-launch its largest resort in Egypt

Rixos Hotels has signed a deal to operate its largest all-inclusive resort on Egypt's Red Sea Riviera.
Part of the Accor portfolio, the group has partnered with Eastern Company for Investment and Touristic Development to re-launch the Rixos Makadi Bay, Hurghada.
This agreement to manage the world's largest luxury resort in the Egyptian Riviera overlooking the Red Sea is the latest milestone to follow Accor's acquisition of 50% of Rixos Hotels' shares as part of its expansion strategy in the Middle East.
The project, scheduled to launch in 2020, will eventually expand the existing property on the bay to feature 1,636 keys and world-class leisure and sports facilities.

IndiGo offers direct flights to Silchar

IndiGo has started offering direct flights to Silchar, Assam and also announced daily flights toDoha. IndiGo flight number 6E 6558 will depart from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) in Kolkata at 7.30 am and arrive at Silchar Airport at 8.45 am daily starting from September 20, 2019.

Vistara looks to fly to Europe, Australia next year

Vistara, the joint venture between Tata Sons Ltd and Singapore Airlines, is set to start long-haul international flights to destinations in Europe and Australia in 2020.
Vistara will also look for codeshare partnerships with other airlines in the new geographies.
Vistara kicked off its international operations starting from the New Delhi to Singapore route. While the airline will start flying on the Mumbai-Singapore route from August 14, it will start Mumbai Dubai operations from August 21 and Delhi-Bangkok flights from August 27 (2019).

It's 'Operation Bedlam' for the tourism sector in Kashmir

Tourism has suffered a major jolt in Kashmir. Against an average footfall of 3,000 tourists per day just the previous week, a trickle of 350 arrived in the Valley, despite the adverse advisory.
Most hotels in tourist hotspots including Gulmarg and Pahalgam had been emptied following the advisory.Around 700 tourists are still in the Valley after helping around 90% tourists to leave Kashmir in the past two days.
All arrangements have been made for those who want to leave the Valley safely. Kashmir witnessed a major drop in tourists after the Pulwama attack in February, which witnessed India and Pakistan entering into a border duel.
However, April, May, June and July saw a steady growing numbers, from 17,172 in April to 60,844 in May and 1,16,572 in June and around 2 lakh in July, 2019. Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry general secretary Farooq Amin said the sudden advisory had proved "Operation Bedlam" for people and the State economy.
