UNESCO Certifies Jaipur as World Heritage Site

  • Jaipur was certified as a World Heritage site by United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
  • Jaipur was certified as a World Heritage site by UNESCO Director, General Audrey Azoulay, at a mega event held at the historic Albert Hall in the Pink City. Azoulay presented the World Heritage City certificate to Minister of Urban Development Shanti Dhariwal.

Disney's Streaming Service Disney+ to Enter India

  • Disney's new over the top (OTT) streaming service Disney+ will be officially launched in India on March 29. The service will be started in partnership with Star India-owned streaming platform Hotstar.
  • Disney+ was launched in the US in November 2019 and was expected to make its debut in India in the second half of 2020. Disney owns Star India because of which Hotstar also falls under the entertainment conglomerate's portfolio. Disney acquired Star India when it took over 21st Century in March 2019 for $71.3 billion. As per reports, the VIP tier of Hotstar's platform will be renamed to Disney+Hotstar.
  • Disney+ has 26.5 million paid subscribers worldwide. The company is expected to give stiff competition to other OTT players, especially Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Hotstar already has a tie-up with HBO and streams the channel's shows on its platform. The Disney+ association will further raise the platform's content library in India.

Installation at Art Fair Halted after

  • An art installation at the India Art Fair celebrating the strength of women was disrupted by the police when a visitor complained against it, claiming it was a protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, or CAA, and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Soon after the police's visit, the organisers decided to close down the exhibit.
  • The exhibit, titled 'The Wall', was placed at the Italian embassy booth, and was a live art performance put together by artists from across communities. Curated by Myna Mukherjee, the exhibit contained paintings, poetry recitations and songs.

India and France to Partner on Museums

  • According to the Ministry of Culture India and France will work together in the field of museums, cultural spaces and research, and a joint working group will be established for this purpose.
  • The working group would explore partnership between the National Museum in Delhi and a French counterpart to be designated by the French government. The first meeting of this group would be held before April 30. The Ministers opened an exhibition of works by French artist Gerard Garouste at the National Gallery of Modern Art.

Cultural Performances Delight Audience at 'Bharat Utsav'

  • Cultural performances by artistes from various States marked 'Bharat Utsav-2020' at Kikani Higher Secondary School.
  • Organised by Sri Krishna Sweets and Bharath Kala Sangamam, the theme for the event was 'Festivals of India'.
  • The cultural event was inaugurated by P.M. Harish, retired Lieutenant General.

Benetton India Awards its Digital Mandate to Dentsu X-cubic

  • Benetton India, the Indian arm of global fashion firm Benetton Group, has awarded its digital media duties to Dentsu X's agency dX-cubic, effective January 2020. The incumbent agency on the account is GroupM, owned media agency Wavemaker India.
  • Benetton's strength lies in its millennial consumer base who show a deep connection and love for the brand.
  • As part of the mandate, the agency will handle media planning, buying and strategy of the fashion brand across all digital platforms.
  • Dentsu X India comprises three agencies - dX-matrix, dX-cubic and dX-palette, offering integrated communication solutions. Owned by Dentsu Aegis Network, Dentsu Media was rebranded as Dentsu X in 2017. Apart from media buying and planning the agency assist on content creation, technology, data and behavioural insights to its clients.
