Assam Government to Launch 'Orunodoi' Scheme to Provide Financial Assistance

Finance Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sharma announced that the Government of Assam will roll out the 'Orunodoi' Scheme, which will provide Financial Assistance of Rs. 830 per month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme to around 17 lakh families in the state. It is expected to be the largest direct benefit Transfer scheme in Assam.
The 'Orunodoi' scheme will be implemented from October 2, 2020 and will act as an umbrella scheme for all other government schemes for the next 5 years.
The amount provided under the 'Orunodoi' Scheme will help the impoverished families in the state to meet their nutritional and medical needs.
The scheme is applicable to eligible families to buy essential food items. Rs.400 has been allotted for the purchase of medicine, Rs.150 for vegetables, 50% off on 4 kg of ration and 4kgs of sugar.
Around 15 to 17 thousand families in each assembly constituency are expected to be benefited by this scheme.
The Assam government will bear 210 crore rupees per month for the 'Orunodoi' scheme.
The amount will be transferred to the bank account of the nominated women member of the family.

National Health Authority Approves to Integrate Health Schemes of Central Ministries with Ayushma...

The Governing board of National Health Authority (NHA) approved the proposal to integrate the existing health schemes of the central ministries with the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana for employees, during the governing board's review meeting on the implementation AB-PMJAY chaired by Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare.
The integration of the central ministry schemes and AB-PMJAY will promote the development in the supply side and enhance the demand creation of the services of the health care.
The Integration of the existing schemes with the ABPMJAY for employees will benefit the government and contractual employees, beneficiary groups like, building and construction workers, manual scavengers, road accident victims and Central Armed Police Force personnel.
This will increase the interoperability between the schemes and will benefit the victims in different geographical areas with limited health care amenities through the portability characteristic of PMJAY.

Haryana Govt. Launches Mahila Evam Kishori Samman Yojana & Mukhya Mantri Doodh Uphar Yojana

In order to give a major boost to the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" campaign, the state government of Haryana launched two schemes, with a total outlay of Rs. 256 crore, viz. launched "Mahila Evam Kishori Samman Yojana" to provide free sanitary napkins to girls and women of below poverty line (BPL) families, and initiated "Mukhya Mantri Doodh Uphar Yojana" to provide fortified flavoured skimmed milk powder to women and children. These schemes were launched by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar through video conferencing.
"Mahila Evam Kishori Samman Yojana" focusing on adolescent girls and women between 10 to 45 years of age of about 11,24,871 BPL families will provide a 6 piece packet of free sanitary napkins every month for a year. This scheme will cover the state's 22.50 lakh women and girls.
"Mukhya Mantri Doodh Uphar Yojana" under the aegis of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS), implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD), the state government has initiated this scheme in order to provide fortified flavoured skimmed milk powder to about 9.03 lakh children and 2.95 lakh pregnant and lactating mothers visiting 25,962 anganwadi centres in the state.

MoD Releases Draft Defence Production and Export Promotion Policy 2020

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) publicised a draft 'Defence Production & Export Promotion Policy (DPEPP) 2020 for public feedback by August 17, 2020 after which the policy would be promulgated by the MoD. The policy aims to achieve a manufacturing turnover of $25 bn or Rs. 1,75,000 crore, including exports of $5 bn or Rs. 35,000 Crore in aerospace and defence goods and services by 2025.
The DPEPP 2020 is MoD's overarching guiding document for providing significant thrust to defence production for self-reliance and exports.
The Department of Defence Production (DDP) will be the nodal department for coordination on various components of the DPEPP 2020 and to achieve the objectives set in this Policy.
It is to be noted that currently the size of the Defence Industry, including Aerospace and Naval Shipbuilding Industry, is estimated to be about Rs. 80,000 Cr (2019-20). In this the contribution of Public Sector is estimated to be Rs. 63,000 crores, while the share of Private Sector is Rs. 17,000 crores.

MSME Launches Programme under "Gramodyog Vikas Yojana"

Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (M/o MSME) approved a programme under "Gramodyog Vikas Yojana" for the benefit of artisans involved in manufacturing of Agarbatti and to develop village industry.
Initially four Pilot Projects will be started, including one in the North Eastern part of the country. Each targeted cluster of artisans will be supported with about 50 Automatic Agarbatti making machines and 10 Mixing machines.
As a part of the programme, a total of 200 Automatic Agarbatti making machines and 40 mixing machines will be provided to the artisans.
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), under the M/o MSME, will provide training, and assist artisans with Agarbatti manufacturing machines.
KVIC will also tie up with Khadi institutions / Agarbatti manufacturers in the country, having a good track record, to provide work and raw material.
The program will immediately generate a minimum of about 500 additional jobs and will reduce imports of Agarbatti.

Rajasthan to Start Indira Rasoi Yojana

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot directed officials to start the Indira Rasoi Yojana in urban areas of Rajasthan from August 20. Reviewing the preparations for the scheme, named after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Gehlot said that the state government would spend Rs. 100 crore per year on it. The poor would get quality nutritious food for just Rs. 8.
As per the chief minister, the scheme should be implemented with the spirit of public service, transparency and public participation so that it becomes an example in the direction of providing food security to the poor in the country.
The chief minister also directed to constitute a committee at the state and district levels to ensure the quality of food.
The state government would give a grant of Rs. 12 per plate.
The scheme will be run in all 213 urban local bodies of the state.

J&K, Manipur, Nagaland and Uttarakhand Join 'One Nation-One Ration Card' Scheme

Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Nagaland and Uttarakhand joined the 'One Nation-One Ration Card' scheme, taking the total number of states and union territories connected under the scheme to 24.
With this, about 65 crore beneficiaries, comprising 80 per cent of the total beneficiaries, covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) can now get their subsidised ration from anywhere in these 24 states and union territories.
The remaining states/UTs are targeted to be integrated in national portability by March 2021.
Under the 'One Nation-One Ration Card' initiative, eligible beneficiaries would be able to avail their entitled foodgrains under NFSA from any fair price shop in the country using the same ration card.
