K. Vijay Kumar Appointed Senior Security Advisor in MHA

Former advisor to the Governor of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, K. Vijay Kumar has been appointed as a senior security advisor in the Union Home Ministry headed by Amit Shah.
The 1975-batch officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) will advise the ministry on security related matters of Union Territory of JK and Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected States.
Kumar served as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Director of the National Police Academy in Hyderabad and his most talked about stint was as the chief of the Tamil Nadu police special task force that killed forest brigand Veerappan in 2004.

Jairam Sridharan Resigns as CFO

Axis Bank's Jairam Sridharan resigned from the post of Chief Financial Officer of Axis Bank to pursue other career opportunities.
Jairam Sridharan will continue to serve as the Group Executive & Chief Financial Officer of the Bank under his notice period of three months.

TT Coach Bhawani Mukherji Passes Away

Former India table tennis head coach Bhawani Mukherji died aged 68.
Mukherji, who was the first Dronacharya awardee in table tennis, did his schooling and graduation from Ajmer where his father was a medical practitioner.
He joined the National Institute of Sports (NIS) Patiala in the mid-seventies after obtaining diploma in coaching.
He was the head coach at NIS Patiala and became the head coach of the national team for a brief period after the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Girish Chandra Chaturvedi New Chairman of NSE

The National Stock Exchange of India Ltd, or NSE, received SEBI's approval to appoint Girish Chandra Chaturvedi, a retired IAS officer and former secretary, Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, as its chairman.
The chairman's post had fallen vacant after Ashok Chawla stepped down on January 11, 2019 amid allegations of his involvement in the Aircel-Maxis case.
He is currently on the board of ICICI Bank and a member of the government-appointed board of Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (IL&FS).

C. M. Muthiah Passes Away

C. M. Muthiah, veteran athlete, coach and one of India's best-known sports administrators, passed away. He was 85 and is survived by his wife and daughter.
Muthiah, a contemporary of the great Milkha Singh, was a five-time National decathlon champion from 1956-60 and became the first Indian to participate at the World University Games in Budapest in 1954. At the 1958 Tokyo Asian Games, he missed a decathlon medal by 82 points.
In his years as a coach at the National Institute of Sport (Patiala) from 1962, Muthiah trained the likes of T.C. Yohanan (long jump) and V.S. Chauhan (decathlon), both Asian Games gold medallists, Satish Pillai, Asian Games long jump medallist, and V.R. Beedu among others.

Radio 1's First Blind Presenter

Lucy Edwards will be Radio 1's first-ever blind presenter.
She will be taking over the late morning slot on 28th and 29th December, 2019 and wants to create a show that feels like family.
Lucy - who has a YouTube channel and is a freelance reporter and presenter - will have the honour of playing Radio 1's greatest hits during her slots.
Lucy has a condition called Incontinentia Pigmenti which affected her eyesight at a young age.
She lost sight in her right eye at the age of 11, and in her left eye at 17.

Former England Captain Bob Willis Passed Away

Former England captain and fast bowler Bob Willis has passed away, aged 70 after a short illness.
Willis represented England in 90 Tests in an international career spanning 13 years between 1971 and 1984, finishing with 325 wickets at 25.2 - fourth-best for England behind James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Ian Botham.
He also played 64 ODIs.

Pichai to Head Parent Alphabet

Google CEO Sundar Pichai will take over the additional reins of parent Alphabet Inc in place of co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin as the sole occupant of the hot seat amid an unprecedented global demand for more safeguards, regulatory scrutiny and taxes.
Pichia IIT Kharagpur and Stanford graduate becomes, arguably, the biggest Indian-born CEO on the world stage as Page and Brin said they were stepping aside as leaders of the trillion-dollar Internet behemoth they founded 21 years ago.
Pichai, who has run the core Google search business since 2015, will immediately take the reins of Alphabet Inc, the parent of one of the world's most valuable and influential companies.

Lt Gen Rajeshwar took over as 14th Commander-in-Chief of Andaman & Nicobar Command

Lt Gen Podali Shankar Rajeshwar took over as the 14th Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman & Nicobar Command (CINCAN).
A graduate of the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, he was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery in December, 1980.
A gunner and aviator, he is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Army War College and National Defence College in New Delhi and the Philippines.
Lt Gen Rajeshwar has actively taken part in Operation Meghdoot and Operation Rakshak, officials said.
Further,he was commanded a Medium Regiment in Operation Parakram, an infantry brigade on the Line of Control, Counter Insurgency (Romeo) Force in Jammu & Kashmir and a Corps in the desert sector.

Atul Garg New Chief of Delhi Fire Services

Atul Garg was appointed as the new chief of the Delhi Fire Services (DFS). Garg, who was at present serving as the chief fire officer of DFS was promoted to the rank of director.
Garg, who has spent more than 17 years in the DFS, since 2002, was awarded with meritorious services medal in the year 2009.
Garg's predecessor, G. C. Mishra headed the Delhi Fire Services department. After Mishra retired from the service in February 2019, Vipin Kentail was holding the charge temporarily, until Garg was promoted.

Shivangi the First Woman Pilot in the Indian Navy

Sub lieutenant Shivangi became the first woman pilot in the Indian Navy. Until now, women officers only served as observers on board aircraft such as the P-8I submarine hunters and Ilushyin-38, also used for anti-submarine warfare.
Southern Naval Command chief Vice-Admiral Anil Chawla awarded her the coveted golden wings in Kochi after she successfully completed a "conversion course" with the Dornier training squadron INAS 550, also known as the Flying Fish.
Shivangi joined the navy in June 2018 after undergoing training at the Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala in Kerala.
