Justice Rajesh Shukla Sworn-in as New Gujarat Lokayukta
Retired Gujarat High Court Judge Justice Rajesh Shukla was sworn-in as the fifth Lokayukta of the state by Governor Acharya Devvrat.
The post of the state anti-corruption ombudsman was lying vacant since the retirement of Lokayukta D P Buch in December 2018.
Born in 1956, Justice Shukla was elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court of Gujarat in November 2007 and appointed as a permanent Judge in May 2009.
He retired from the service at the Gujarat HC in December 2019.
Former MP & Journalist Vishwa Bandhu Gupta Passes Away
Former MP and a veteran journalist Vishwa Bandhu Gupta, who was nicknamed as Balloon Man passed away in Delhi. He was born in Bhingar, Bombay Province, British India.
He was associated with the National Congress party and became the Member of Parliament (MP) in April 1984.
He represented Delhi in Rajya Sabha from 1984 to 1990.
He served as the Vice-President and District President of Delhi Congress.
He was the President of All India Newspaper Editors Conference (AINEC) and one of the founding members of the Press Club of India (PCI).

Natarajan Chandrasekaran Re-nominated as a Part-time Non-Official Director on RBI Central Board
As per a notification from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Chairman of the Board of Tata Sons, Natarajan Chandrasekaran has been re-nominated as a Part-Time Non-Official Director on RBI Central board for 2 years from March 2020 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The government had 1st nominated him as the Director on RBI Central board for 4 years from March 4, 2016.
The Natarajan Chandrasekaran joined Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in 1987, he became its Chief Executive Officer from 2009-17 , prior to which he was Chief Operating Officer (COO) and executive director of TCS
He served as the chairman of Tata Motors and Tata Global Beverages(TGB). He has also served as the Chairperson of the Information and Communication Technology Industry Governors at the World Economic Forum, Davos in 2015-16.
IFTAS Appoints T.Tabi Sankar as Chairman and N. Rajendran as CEO
The Indian Financial Technology & Allied Services (IFTAS), wholly owned subsidiary of Reserve Bank of India appointed T. Rabi Sankar as the Chairman and Dr. N. Rajendran as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Mr. Shanka is a member of committees including Expert Committee on Integration of Commodity Spot and Derivative Markets (established by the Government of India), Working Group on Establishing Viable Capital Markets and Working Group on Dollar Funding Markets (established by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS))
Mr. Rajendran holds a PhD in Computer Science and experience in technology management, cybersecurity, strategizing, people and technology management.
He worked as the chief architect in the creation and implementation of Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

Padma Shri Awardee Vidyaben Passes Away
Social worker and National Award winner Vidyaben Shah passed at her residence in the national capital. She was 98.
Vidyaben was the first non-official to head the New Delhi Municipal Council in the 1970s and was also the president of the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW) between 1976 to 1979 and then from 1985 to 1994.
A pioneer in the field of child welfare, she established the first Bal Bhavan in Rajkot in the 1940s and as a university student, she participated in the Quit India Movement. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 1992 and received the National Award for outstanding services in the field of child welfare in 1986.

Vikram Pawah to Take Charge of BMW Group India
Vikram Pawah has been appointed as the president of BMW Group India effective 1 August 2020. The new role comes as an additional charge for Pawah who would continue to serve in his existing role as chief executive officer of BMW Group Australia and New Zealand.
Pawah, in his previous role, served as the president of India operations between 2017-18 post which he was moved to head Australia and New Zealand operations in 2018.
The appointment comes on the back of filling the top position to manage operations of the German luxury carmaker after it was left vacant due to the sudden and untimely demise of Rudratej Singh in April.

Noted Economist B. P. R. Vithal Passes Away
Noted economist B. P. R. Vithal, who served as a Member of the Tenth Finance Commission, died in Hyderabad.
Vithal was a 1950-batch IAS officer.
Vithal had served as secretary, finance and planning, in the government of Andhra Pradesh from 1972 to 1982 and as deputy chairman of the State Planning Board. He was also chairman of the Expenditure Commission, Government of Kerala.
Vithal had a brief stint at the International Monetary Fund as Fiscal Advisor to the governments of Sudan and Malawi. He had established the Centre for Economic and Social Studies in Hyderabad.
Urjit Patel New Chairman of NIPFP
Former governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Urjit Patel who resigned from his post in December 2018 after a tussle with the government over the central bank's autonomy has been appointed as the chairman of the New Delhi Based economic think tank National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP) for a period of four years.
The chairman's role is advisory in nature and he does not interfere in day today functioning of the institution. He chairs the board meetings which are held at least three to four times in a year.
The governing body of NIPFP comprises of three representatives of the Ministry of Finance, one representative of the Niti Aayog, one representative of the Reserve Bank of India, three representatives of sponsoring state governments, three distinguished economists, three heads of sister research institutions, and members of other sponsoring agencies and invitees.
