IFFCO Chairman Balvinder Singh Nakai Passes Away

  • Fertiliser major IFFCO's Chairman Balvinder Singh Nakai passed away at the age of 87. He was born in December 1934.
  • Nakai was an eminent farmer - cooperator, and was deeply involved in providing strength to Indian cooperative movement for the last three decades.

Holocaust Survivor and 'Happiest Man on Earth' Author Dies

  • Holocaust survivor-author Eddie Jaku, who last year published his best-selling memoir, "The Happiest Man on Earth", died in Sydney. He was 101.
  • Jaku was born Abraham "Adi" Jakubowiez in April 1920 in the German city of Leipzig.

Father of Pakistan's Nuclear Bomb A. Q. Khan Passes Away

  • Abdul Qadeer Khan, a scientist known as the father of Pakistan's clandestine nuclear programme, passed away. He was 85.
  • The nuclear physicist faced criticism in 2004 when he was forced to accept responsibility for nuclear technology proliferation and was forced to live a life of official house arrest.
  • Khan was born in 1936 in Bhopal and migrated to Pakistan along with his family after the Partition in 1947.

Suchetha Sathish Sets Guinness Record by Singing in 120 Languages

  • While there are many singers who have been mesmerizing the audience with their melodious voice, 16-year-old Suchetha Sathish stands apart for her ability to sing flawlessly in as many as 120 languages.
  • A native of Kannur, she achieved the Guinness record for singing in most languages at an event held at the Indian Consulate in Dubai. She received the certificate and citations in Dubai.

Renowned Cartoonist C. J. Yesudasan Passes Away

  • Renowned cartoonist C. J. Yesudasan passed away at the age of 83.
  • Famous for his political cartoons, Yesudasan received the best cartoonist award from the Kerala government several times.
  • He also bagged honours like Swadeshabhimani Award, BM Gafoor Award, V Sambasivan Memorial Award, PK Manthri Memorial Award and NV Pylee Award.
  • Born in Bharaikkavu in Alappuzha district in 1938, Yesudasan had a long stint as a cartoonist with Malayala Manorama. He had also worked with Janayugom and Shankar's Weekly in the beginning of his career.
  • Yesudasan popularised the art of cartooning and was the author of the first pocket cartoon in Kerala.

  • Mr. Dobhal succeeded Shyamal Majumdar, who has retired.
