Over 700 Indian Soldiers Participate in 'Exercise Bright Star 2025'

  • Egypt is holding its biennial multilateral exercise 'Exercise Bright Star' with the participation of over 700 Indian personnel. The North African country has been holding this exercise with the United States since 1980 and is one of the largest Tri-Service multilateral exercises in the region. Multiple nations are participating in the exercise being held from August 28 to September 10, 2025.
  • Participation of the Indian Armed Forces in this exercise underscores India's commitment to regional peace, stability, and security while enhancing jointness, interoperability and cooperation with friendly foreign countries.

The 7th Meeting of India-Saudi Arabia Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation

  • The 7th meeting of India-Saudi Arabia Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation (JCDC) took place in New Delhi. The meeting was co-chaired by Joint Secretary Amitabh Prasad from the Indian side and Staff Maj Gen Saad Mohammed H Alkathiri from the Saudi side.
  • Both sides reiterated their commitment to further strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and expressed happiness on the execution of most of the significant decisions taken during the previous JCDC meeting. With a view to strengthen defence ties and explore new avenues of collaboration, the two countries held discussions in areas such as training cooperation, industrial partnerships, maritime cooperation & military exercises.
  • The two sides discussed their respective training capabilities and requirements. India offered to provide training to the Saudi Armed Forces and discussed cooperation in Cyber, IT, disaster management & tactical communication.

India and Japan Strengthen Naval Ties with UNICORN Project

  • India and Japan are deepening their defence cooperation through the co-development of the Unified Complex Radio Antenna (UNICORN) project, a cutting-edge radar mast system for Indian Navy warships.
  • The UNICORN system, also known as Nora-50, is an advanced integrated communication and radar mast designed to improve stealth and operational efficiency. Originally developed by Japan's NEC Corporation, Sampa Kogyo KK, and Yokohama Rubber Company for the Mogami-class frigates of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF), UNICORN consolidates multiple antennas into a single composite structure.

Chief of Integrated Defence Staff Attends Chiefs of Defence Conference 2025 in Thailand

  • Chief of Integrated Defence Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit participated in the annual Chiefs of Defence Conference in Thailand from August 26 to 28, 2025. The event was jointly hosted by the United States Indo-Pacific Command and Royal Thai Armed Forces.
  • The conference is a premier multilateral forum that brings together the Chiefs of Defence from nations across the Indo-Pacific region to deliberate on the evolving regional & global security challenges, cooperative frameworks and avenues for strengthening military-to-military engagements. The 2025 edition focused on maritime security, counter-terrorism, cyber resilience, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and fostering stability in the Indo-Pacific.
