  • Renee Noronha, a student of IIT Madras, has already conquered one of the world's most gruelling endurance challenges — not once, but twice. She's now officially India's youngest female Ironman, and her journey from a gymnast in Mumbai to the finish line of the Ironman Hamburg European Championship is nothing short of extraordinary.
  • Renee completed the triathlon — a 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycling, and a 42.2 km full marathon, all within a tight 17-hour window — in just 14 hours, shaving off over two and a half hours from her previous time at Ironman New Zealand.

Markram, Matthews Named Best Players for June 2025 by ICC

  • The International Cricket Council (ICC) named Aiden Markram from South Africa and Hayley Matthews from the West Indies as the Men's and Women's Players, respectively of the Month for June 2025. Their strong performances helped their teams win important matches, making a big impact in international cricket.
  • Aiden Markram was awarded the ICC Men's Player of the Month after his brilliant performance in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at Lord's, London. He scored 136 runs off 207 balls, sharing a 147-run partnership with captain Temba Bavuma, helping South Africa chase down 282 runs to win the match by five wickets.
  • Hayley Matthews, captain of the West Indies women's team, won the ICC Women's Player of the Month award. She scored 104 runs and took 4 wickets in the three-match ODI series against South Africa, including a half-century in the third game.
  • This is the fourth time Matthews has won this monthly award, making her the second player in history to achieve this after Australia's Ashleigh Gardner.

Kudermetova and Mertens win Wimbledon Women's Doubles Title

  • Eighth seeds Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens won their first Grand Slam as a pair, beating Hsieh Su-Wei and Jelena Ostapenko 3-6 6-2 6-4 in the Wimbledon women's doubles final.
  • It was the first major title for Russia's Kudermetova, who was on the losing side in the 2021 final against Mertens and Hsieh. The second Wimbledon crown for Belgian Mertens took her to five Grand Slam doubles titles.

Harikrishnan A Becomes India's 87th Grandmaster

  • Harikrishnan A. Ra., a chess player from Chennai, officially became India's 87th Grandmaster. He earned his final Grandmaster (GM) norm at the La Plagne International Chess Festival in France in July 2025, completing a long seven-year journey from International Master (IM) to GM.
  • Harikrishnan had been an International Master for seven years, chasing the Grandmaster title by competing in many tournaments. Despite coming close multiple times, he could not complete all three GM norms until now. Coached by Shyam Sundar, he kept working hard and stayed committed to his goal.

  • Fifth seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool capped their dream summer with the Wimbledon crown and first Grand Slam title as a pair when the British team downed Rinky Hijikata and David Pel 6-2 7-6(3) in the men's doubles final.

  • Jannik Sinner won his first Wimbledon title by defeating two-time champion Carlos Alcaraz.   • The agreement was officially exchanged between Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Prasar Bharati, and Anandeshwar Pande, Executive Director of HAI.
