Maharashtra's Daulatabad Fort to be Renamed as 'Devgiri' Fort

  • Maharashtra Tourism Ministry decided to rename the Daulatabad Fort to Devgiri Fort which is located near Aurangabad. It is a national heritage monument, which is maintained by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI).
  • The decision of renaming Daulatabad Fort to Devgiri Fort came after Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray renamed Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar after a long demand from Sena Foot Soldiers.
  • Daulatpur Fort is a historic fortified citadel located in Devagiri Village near Aurangabad, Maharashtra. It was earlier the capital of the Yadava Dynasty for a brief time the capital of the Delhi Sultanate. The fort was renamed Daulatabad by Mohammed Tughlaq in the 14th century who understood its Importance as a base for military operations in southern India and conceived the Idea of making his capital.

Vinay Shukla's Documentary 'While We Watched' Wins Award at Toronto Film Fest

  • Vinay Shukla's documentary "While We Watched", featuring news anchor Ravish Kumar, bagged an award at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
  • The film, titled "Namaskar! Main Ravish Kumar" in Hindi, won the Amplify Voices Award.
  • Other winners of the Amplify Voices Award included Nisha Pahuja's "To Kill a Tiger" for best Canadian feature and Martika Ramirez Escobar's "Leonore Will Never Die".

  • Ladakh Lieutenant Governor R.K. Mathur virtually inaugurated a 5-day Ladakh Screenwriters Fair in Leh. Mr. Mathur said that Ladakh technicians and content providers are familiar with the film industry. Ladakh has been part of the industry with its natural beautiful landscapes and culture. He appealed to the participants to gain the knowledge and guidance from the experts of the film industry to present Ladakh in film media.

Nagaland Holds its First ever Naga Mircha Festival at Seihama

  • Nagaland held the first-ever 'Naga Mircha (King Chilli) Festival' at Seiyhama village in Kohima district. The festival was sponsored by the Department of Horticulture.
  • Considered as the world's hottest chilli – Naga Mircha (King Chilli) has constantly been placed on the top five in the list of the world's hottest chilies based on the SHUs. Also referred as 'Raja Mircha', 'Bhoot Jolokia' or 'Ghost Pepper', this chilli attained Geographical Indication (GI) certification in 2008. It belongs to genus Capsicum of family Solanaceae.
  • 'Naga Chilli' or 'Raja Mircha' is an indigenous crop of Nagaland believed to have originated from Nagaland's Zeliangrong region; and is extensively grown in Peren, Mon, Kohima and Dimapur.

Fifth Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 to be Celebrated from 1st to 30th Sept. 2022

  • The Ministry of Women and Child Development is celebrating the 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 across the nation from September 1 till September 30. This year, the objective of the Poshan Maah is to trigger Poshan Maah through Gram Panchayats as Poshan Panchayats with key focus on "Mahila aur Swasthya" and "Bacha aur Shiksha". Rashtriya Poshan Maah serves as a platform to bring focus to the discourse of nutrition and good health.
  • In the 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah the aim is to convert Jan Andolan into Jan Bhagidari to fulfil the Prime Minister's vision of a Suposhit Bharat.
