Cannes Film Festival: Anurag Thakur Leads Biggest Indian Contingent at Red Carpet Event
Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur led the Indian contingent at the Cannes Film Festival, where India was named as the 'country of honour' for 'Marche du Film', the business counterpart of the marquee event. Thakur was received by India's Ambassador to France Jawed Ashraf.
Thakur walked the red carpet at the festival along with Indian delegation comprising top personalities, including Shekhar Kapur, A R Rahman, Prasoon Joshi, R Madhavan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vani Tripathi, Pooja Hegde and folk artist Mame Khan, ahead of the screening of opening film "Coupez" (Final Cut) by Michel Hazanavicius.
Thakur inaugurated the India Pavilion at the business event alongside the Cannes Film Festival and participate in the opening night festivities of Marche Du Film at the Majestic Beach.

"Shot Sage Blue Marilyn", 20th Century Painting by US Artiste Andy Warhol, Sells for $195 Million...
Andy Warhol's "Shot Sage Blue Marilyn" was sold for a cool $195 million, making the iconic portrait of Marilyn Monroe the most expensive work by a U.S. artist ever sold at auction. The 1964 silkscreen image shows Monroe in vibrant close-up — hair yellow, eyeshadow blue and lips red — on a rich blue background. It's also the most expensive piece from the 20th century ever auctioned.
The Warhol sale unseated the previous record holder and another modern master, Jean-Michel Basquiat, whose 1982 painting "Untitled" of a skull-like face sold for a record $110.5 million at Sotheby's in 2017.
Warhol created more than one image of Monroe; this particular painting was exhibited in museums around the world.

Ministry of Culture to Organize Two Day Rishikesh Music Festival 2022

India Embarks on the World's Largest Film Restoration Project under National Film Heritage Mission
Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur launched World's largest film restoration project under National Film Heritage Mission (NFHM).
Under National Film Heritage Mission, approximately 2,200 films will undergo restoration. The titles were shortlisted by language wise committees consisting of filmmakers, documentary filmmakers, film historians, producers etc. Eminent film personalities such as Aparna Sen, Shriram Raghavan, Anjali Menon and Vetrimaaran were part of the committees.
Indian Cinema, which has been in existence for more than a hundred years now, holds a very unique place in the pantheon of world cinema. The restoration of Indian films will once again give a chance to the current and future generations to relive the glory of these films which have enamored audiences for decades.
Beyond Satyajit Ray films, feature films as diverse as 'Neelakuyil' (Malayalam) and 'Do Aakhein Barah Haath' (Hindi) will also be covered. Extremely important shorts and documentaries from the collection of NFAI, Films Division and other rare materials, including pre independence, will also be restored as they capture the growth of India like no other.

Largest Native American Cave Art Revealed by 3D Scans
Deep in a damp cave in northern Alabama, archaeologists have made a giant discovery. On a subterranean ceiling just half a meter high, researchers have uncovered the largest cave art discovered in North America: intricate etchings of humanlike figures and a serpent, carved by Native Americans more than 1000 years ago.
