Microsoft to Train 1.62L Students in Andhra Pradesh
Microsoft is collaborating with Government of Andhra Pradesh in imparting digital skills to 1.62 lakh students and unemployed youth across 300 plus colleges and skill development centres in the state.
Announcing this, IT minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy pointed out that for the purpose, AP government has entered into an MoU with IT giant Microsoft to skill up students and youth, so that they become employable by various companies due to their additional qualifications.
He underlined that Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy wants every house to be "digitally connected". About 80 lakh houses will be provided with digital connection in three years.
The minister said the focus will be on "remote learning", a major challenge during the Covid times. He disclosed that efforts are being made to provide computers and laptops to 1.30 crore people in the state.
CSIR Survey
Smokers and vegetarians were found to have lower sero-positivity, while those with blood group 'O' may be less susceptible to coronavirus, according to a survey by an top research body.
The pan-India serosurvey, conducted by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), studied the presence of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), and their neutralisation capability to infer possible risk factors for infection.
The study, done by a team of 140 doctors and scientists, accessed 10,427 adult individuals working in more than 40 CSIR laboratories and centres in urban and semi-urban settings, and their family members. These people voluntarily participated in the study.
Biocon Biologics, Viatris get European Commission nod for Cancer Drug
Biocon Biologics Ltd., a subsidiary of Bengaluru-headquartered Biocon Ltd., has announced that Abevmy 100 & 400 mg, a biosimilar of Bevacizumab co-developed with Viatris Inc., has received marketing authorisation approval from the European Commission.
The nod came following the positive recommendation by the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use of the European Medicines Agency, it said.
Abevmy 100 & 400 mg is approved for the treatment inmetastatic colorectal carcinoma, metastatic breast cancer, non-small-cell lung carcinoma, glioblastoma, ovarian, cervical and renal cancer as part of a specific regimen, the company said.
The centralised marketing authorisation granted by the EC is valid in all EU Member States as well as in the European Economic Area countries Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, it was stated.

Guinness World Record Participation Certificate for Learning Coding
The 'AI-for-India' Initiative launched by IIT Madras-incubated startup GUVI and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to upskill Indians in coding has already attracted over 2.80 lakh participants interested in learning Python and Artificial Intelligence.
A one-day online coding event is being conducted by GUVI in association with AICTE, IIT Madras Research Park, with more partners, now roped in.
GUVI welcomes all aspiring Indians to utilize this online opportunity to acquire AI skills and boost the participation to 10 lakh people, which will drive it towards a Guinness World Record for the maximum number of participants in an online event.
In addition, Participation Certification will be awarded for the learners who take part in this Guinness World record initiative. Also, unlimited access to a Coding skill-building platform called 'CodeKata', will be offered to all those who registered to 'AI-for-India'.
