IIM Indore Introduces Online Executive Programme in Strategic Sales Management

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore has launched an executive programme in strategic sales management. The new programme is designed in collaboration with Jigsaw to help sales professionals and aspirants across different experience levels incorporate digital skills for a profound sales team-building and strategic approach towards driving sales.
The executive programme in strategic sales management is designed to enable learners to become high-performing sales strategists in the digital world. Anyone with graduation along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is eligible for the executive programme.

Union Cabinet Approves Affiliation of 100 Schools in Govt., Private Sector with Sainik School Soc...

Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the proposal of affiliating Sainik Schools under Sainik Schools Society, the Ministry of Defence (MoD). These schools will function as an exclusive vertical which will be distinct and different from existing Sainik Schools of MoD. In the first phase, 100 affiliate partners are proposed to be drawn from states/NGOs/ private partners.

Arvind Kejriwal Launches 'Desh Ke Mentor' Programme

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a programme under which students of Delhi government schools will be provided guidance on career choices by citizens who are successful in their respective fields. The 'Desh ke mentor' programme entails 'adopting' 1 to 10 government school students who can be mentored by citizens who are successful in their respective fields.
The programme will be for a minimum of two months and can carry on for another four months optionally. One mentor will be assigned between two to five students.

All Government Schools Will Get CBSE Affiliation by 2024: Andhra Pradesh CM

In an important move in school education, Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials of the education department to take measures to get CBSE affiliation for all state government schools and ensure all students write CBSE exams in 2024.
The Chief Minister also said that every school should have a playground and directed the officials to map schools that do not have playgrounds. The officials have been told to acquire required lands and allot playgrounds to those schools.

IIT Kanpur, University of Queensland Conduct Path-breaking Research in Inflammatory Diseases

IT Kanpur and the University of Queensland (UQ) have collaborated on path-breaking international research in chronic inflammatory disease.
The findings throw new light on a protein receptor, C5aR2, that plays an important role in the moderation of many immune and inflammatory processes and explores its use as a potential therapeutic target for treating multiple chronic inflammatory diseases.
The research saw international collaboration between Professor Arun Shukla, IIT Kanpur, India with researchers Asuka Inoue, Tohoku University, Japan and Stéphane A Laporte, McGill University, Canada.
This is the first time that researchers have identified key molecules within the immune system that may help fight the inflammation that drives chronic inflammatory diseases.

Health Minister Releases 'The State of the World's Children 2021' Report

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya released UNICEF's global flagship publication "The State of the World's Children 2021; On My Mind: promoting, protecting and caring for children's mental health in New Delhi. The report details the significant impact of COVID-19 pandemic on children's mental health.
This is very vital to address mental health as an important aspect for creating a healthy society. Mansukh noted that teachers are very important stakeholders for addressing mental health issues along with parents and family.
UNICEF India Representative Dr Yasmin Ali Haque presented some key findings of the report.
As per the report, around 14 per cent of 15 to 24-year-olds in India, or 1 in 7 of them, reported often feeling depressed or having little interest in doing things.

Centre Decides to Defer Change in NEET-SS Exam Pattern from 2022-23

In a relief to thousands of young doctors pursuing higher specialisation courses, the Centre told the Supreme Court that in the interest of students, it has decided to implement changes in the pattern of the NEET-Super Speciality (NEET-SS) examination from the academic year 2022-23.
The government indicated that it may defer the examination for the academic year 2021-22 by a couple of months as they have to start the process all over again.

State of the Education Report for India-2021

According to a UNESCO report, there are nearly 1.2 lakh single-teacher schools in the country, of which an overwhelming 89 per cent are in rural areas. The report projects that India needs 11.16 lakh additional teachers to meet the current shortfall.
The findings in the report, 'State of the Education Report for India-2021', focused on teachers, are largely based on analysis of Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) and the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) data.
Based on calculations of PLFS 2018-19 data, the report points out that across states there are 1,10,971 single-teacher schools, which translates to 7.15% of 11.51 lakh schools, employing 95 lakh teachers. "89 per cent of these single-teacher schools are in rural areas. States with a high percentage of single-teacher schools include Arunachal Pradesh (18.22 per cent), Goa (16.08 per cent), Telangana (15.71 per cent), Andhra Pradesh (14.4 per cent), Jharkhand (13.81 per cent), Uttarakhand (13.64 per cent), Madhya Pradesh ( 13.08 per cent), Rajasthan (10.08 per cent)," the report stated.

World's 1st Malaria Vaccine Recommended by WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended the widespread use of a malaria vaccine among children in Africa and other areas of high malaria transmission, a breakthrough in the long fight against the deadly disease.
The vaccine WHO has endorsed, called RTS, S, or Mosquirix, is more than 30 years in the making and works to prime the immune system against 'Plasmodium falciparum', the deadliest malaria parasite and the most common one in Africa.
According to WHO, it is the first vaccine to complete large-scale clinical trials and show that it can significantly reduce malaria, including life-threatening malaria, in young children in Africa.
