Two Bills Passed in Lok Sabha

  • The government pushed its legislative agenda in Lok Sabha as the House passed two bills amid uproar by opposition members over the Pegasus row and farmers issue.
  • These are the first two bills to be passed by Lok Sabha in the Monsoon session which began on July 19. The House has seen repeated disruptions over the alleged Pegasus spying allegations, fuel price hike and three new agri laws since the session started.
  • Discussion on the two bills could not take place as Opposition members continued to stage protests demanding a discussion on the Pegasus snooping allegations and the farmers' demand of repealing the agri laws.

Uttar Pradesh CM Launches 'MyGov-Meri Sarkar' Portal

  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the 'MyGov-Meri Sarkar' portal.
  • Through this portal, the people of the state can give various feedbacks to the government and the UP government can also inform them about the various schemes of the state.
  • The portal will be used efficiently to further enhance the engagement of the common citizens of the state with the Uttar Pradesh state government.
  • This portal will play a major role to disseminate the schemes of the state and to know the citizens opinion on them and how they can be addressed.
  • This portal will be beneficial to the people of the state as they will be able to put forward their suggestions, views and feedbacks. This portal aims to become an innovative platform for joining the public with the government and hence will improve governance in the state.

Amit Shah Launches Green Sohra Afforestation Campaign

  • The Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Green Sohra Afforestation Campaign at Sohra (Cherrapunji) and also inaugurated the Greater Sohra Water Supply Scheme.
  • The Greater Sohra Water Supply Scheme was conceptualised by the Government of Meghalaya and funded by the Ministry of DoNER under NESIDS in the year 2019 an amount of Rs. 24.08 crore.
  • The project will provide water supply to Sohra Town and 12 habitations viz. Sderkariah, Khlieh Shnong, Maraikaphon, Pdengshnong, Nongrim, Pomsohmen, Nongsawlia, Mawkisyiem, Saitsohpen, Mawpunkyrtiang, Pynshadkhurai & Kutmadan by tapping the stream source of Wah Lyngksiar and Law Sanlait Spring Sources.
  • The project is designed to cover an ultimate population of 22,943 persons.
  • Giving the slogan "Evergreen Northeast", the Union Home Minister underlines the importance of afforestation and tree plantation.

CM KCR to Launch 'Telangana Dalit Bandhu' from Huzurabad

  • Telangana Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao will launch his government's new Dalit empowerment scheme, now christened Dalita Bandhu, on a pilot basis from the Huzurabad assembly constituency. The scheme, which was to be called Dalit Empowerment Scheme, has now been renamed as Dalita Bandhu scheme. As part of the scheme, eligible Dalit families would be given Rs. 10 lakh in cash directly to their accounts. The sanctioned amounts will be deposited in the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.
  • Poll-bound Huzurabad constituency has five mandals and the total number of Dalit families in this constituency stands at 20,929. All these families will be scrutinised before the final beneficiary list is made. All those found eligible will be extended the benefits of the scheme. Huzurabad constituency has only a total of around 2 lakh voters. Out of the total, CM KCR's scheme will benefit nearly 21,000 families, which accounts for around 60,000 to 80,000 people, if this scheme is implemented soon.

GoI Extends 'Stand Up India Scheme'

  • The Government of India has extended the duration of the 'Stand Up India Scheme' up to the year 2025. The scheme was launched by the Prime Minister on 05 April 2016 to facilitate loans to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and women borrowers, to promote entrepreneurship among them.
  • The scheme offers bank loans to women and SC & ST communities to encourage them in setting up a greenfield enterprise, outside the farm sector, that is in the manufacturing, services or trading sector.
  • A total of 1,16,266 loans amounting to Rs. 26204.49 crore has been extended under the Scheme since its inception. The loan under Stand Up India Scheme is extended by Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) between Rs. 10 lakh and Rs.1 crore.

Haryana to introduce 'One Block, One Product' scheme

  • To encourage and promote small industries in the rural areas, the Haryana government will soon introduce the 'One Block, One Product' scheme, Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said.
  • Under the scheme, the state government plans to connect every block of the state with some industrial vision and the government is working expeditiously on this scheme, he added.
  • The Deputy Chief Minister informed that in the last one year, Haryana's 'One District, One Product' Scheme which is being implemented under MSME, has come up as a model across the country.
