Shah Rukh Khan Bags Top Spot in UK's 2023 South Asian Celebrity List

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, referred to as the King Khan of the Indian film industry, topped a UK list of the 'Top 50 Asian Celebrities in the World' previewed in London. The 58-year-old actor, who had double box-office success this year with action thrillers 'Pathaan' and 'Jawaan', is currently preparing for the Christmas release of comedy drama 'Dunki'. Khan beat off tough competition to make it to the annual list published by UK weekly 'Eastern Eye'

Prof. Savita Ladage Honoured With Nyholm Prize for Chemistry Education Excellence

In a significant recognition of her outstanding contributions to chemistry education, Professor Savita Ladage from Mumbai's Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, was awarded the prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry's Nyholm Prize for Education. Her unwavering dedication to advancing chemistry education in India and mentoring fellow educators has placed her among the esteemed winners of this accolade.
The Nyholm Prize placed Professor Ladage in an illustrious group of past winners in the RSC's prize portfolio.
The Nyholm Prize for Education commemorates the life and work of Australian-born chemist Sir Ronald Nyholm, who – alongside his research in coordination chemistry – passionately campaigned for the improvement of science education. He acted as president of the Royal Society of Chemistry from 1968 to 1970.
The prize, which was first awarded in 1973, is awarded biennially by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Indira Gandhi Peace Prize Awarded to Daniel Barenboim and Ali Abu Awwad

In a remarkable acknowledgment of their tireless efforts towards fostering peace and understanding in the tumultuous region of West Asia, the prestigious Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament, and Development for 2023 was jointly conferred upon renowned classical pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim and Palestinian peace activist Ali Abu Awwad. The award recognises their exceptional contributions in bringing together the youth and peoples of Israel and the Arab World for a non-violent resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict.
The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament, and Development is a prestigious award presented annually to individuals or organisations that have made outstanding contributions to the promotion of international peace, disarmament, and development. The award is named after the late Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, and was established in 1986 by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust.
Some of the prominent recipients of the prize are former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh, former German chancellor Angela Merkel, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf the 24th President of Liberia, Kofi Annan the seventh secretary-general of the United Nations, and Sheikh Hasina Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

Javed Akhtar to be Felicitated with Padmapani Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ajanta-Ellora Fil...

Veteran lyricist-screenwriter Javed Akhtar will be felicitated with the Padmapani Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ajanta-Ellora Film Festival.
Akhtar, the co-writer of Hindi cinema classics such as "Zanjeer", "Deewaar", "Sholay", "Don", "Kaala Patthar" and "Mr India", will be honoured for his contribution to the Indian film industry on the opening day of the festival's ninth edition.
The award ceremony will take place at Rukmini Auditorium in MGM University campus of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on January 3, 2024.

Ex-UN Secy Gen Ban Ki-moon Gets Power of One Award 2023

In the United States, former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award at the Power of One Award 2023 ceremony, organised by the Diwali Foundation USA. The awards are granted to selfless individuals for their help to form a peaceful and secure world for all. They are hailed as the 'Oscars of Diplomacy'.
Other awardees included former permanent representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN, Ambassador Mirsada Colakovic; former permanent representative of South Korea to the UN Ambassador, Kim Sook; and 72nd UN General Assembly president and EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak.

Noted Hindi Writer Pushpa Bharati to Receive 33rd Vyas Samman

Noted Hindi writer Pushpa Bharati's 2016 memoir, Yaadein, Yaadein aur Yaadein, was selected for the Vyas Samman, 2023, the KK Birla Foundation announced.
Instituted in 1991, the award is given to an outstanding Hindi literary work by an Indian citizen published during the last 10 years. It carries a cash prize of Rs. 4 lakh, a citation and a plaque.
After considering the works published during 2013-2022, a selection committee headed by eminent litterateur Prof. Ramji Tiwari picked Bharati's 'Yaadein, Yaadein aur Yaadein' for the prestigious award.
Born in 1935 in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, Pushpa Bharati embarked on her literary journey, earning an MA in Hindi literature from Prayag University in 1955. With a career spanning decades, she has crafted a diverse body of work, earning critical acclaim for her unique writing style and language proficiency.
