International Day of Sports for Development and Peace

The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is observed in the world every year on the 6th of April. The day marks a special occasion for the sport to be celebrated as a tool to bring social change and foster peace and understanding.
The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is a link to the inaugural modern Olympic Games in 1896. April 6 was declared as the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in 2013.
The theme for the 2023 International Day of Sport for Development and Peace was 'Scoring for People and the Planet'.

International Day of Conscience

The International Day of Conscience is a global day of awareness celebrated on April 5, commemorating the importance of human conscience. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly on July 25, 2019, with the adoption of UN resolution 73/329. The first International Day of Conscience was celebrated on April 5, 2020.
The International Day of Conscience 2023 was celebrated on the theme 'Building a Culture of Peace'.

National Maritime Day

National Maritime Day is a yearly event celebrated on April 5. This year it was celebrated for the 60th time in India. The first anniversary was held in 1964 to raise awareness about international trade and the economy.
Every year, the day is commemorated to support the global economy, which is the most well-organized, safe, and environmentally responsible way of delivering commodities from one end of the globe to the other.
The first ship built by The Scindia Steam Navigation Company Ltd., The SS Loyalty, travelled from Mumbai to the United Kingdom on April 5, 1919, beginning the history of Indian shipping.
In 1959, India also joined the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The International Marine Organization (IMO) is in charge of maritime safety and pollution prevention.

International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action

The United Nations' International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action is celebrated every year on April 4. The day aims to raise awareness about landmines and progress toward their eradication. "Mine action" refers to a range of efforts to clear landmines and explosive remnants of war and to mark and fence off dangerous areas.
On 8 December 2005, the General Assembly declared April 4 as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. It was first observed on April 4, 2006.

World Autism Awareness Day

World Autism Awareness Day is a special day observed to emphasise the significance of supporting people with autism and to improve the quality of their life. April 2 was declared by the UN General Assembly as the World Autism Awareness Day.
The word 'Autism' first appeared in 1911 by Eugen Bleuler, a psychiatrist who used the term to describe a specific cluster of symptoms in schizophrenia. In 1943, Dr. Leo Kanner, a pediatric psychiatrist categorized Autism as a social and emotional disorder. In 1944, Hans Asperger described autism as a children's disorder in which kids face difficulties with social and communication skills.
After enough research on the topic, the UN General Assembly set April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day, celebrated each year to encourage people in raising awareness about autistic people and to find new ways to improve the wellness of such people.
The theme for World Autism Awareness Day 2023 was "Transformation: Toward a Neuro-Inclusive World for All".

RBI Foundation Day

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was established on April 1, 1935, in accordance with the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. The Central Office of the RBI, initially set up in Kolkata, was permanently moved to Mumbai in 1937. Sir Osborne Smith was the first Governor of the Bank. The Bank was constituted as a shareholders' bank. The RBI is the central bank of India and is responsible for regulating the country's monetary and credit system. It is also responsible for issuing currency and managing the country's foreign exchange reserves. The RBI works closely with the government of India to formulate and implement monetary and fiscal policies that promote economic growth and stability. It was set up as a private shareholder's bank with a capital of Rs. 5 crore.

Odisha Foundation Day (01)

Utkal Divas or Odisha Day is observed on April 1 every year to celebrate its foundation day. In 1936, it was the first state that was formed on a linguistic basis. Earlier, it was the part of Bihar.
The Indian state of Odisha came into being on April 1, 1936, around a decade before India achieved independence from the British colonisation. The state was established as a separate British India province and the day is celebrated as Orissa Day to encourage the remembrance of the same and foster a spirit of unity among all the citizens of the state.
Odisha is the third state in India in terms of tribal population. It has been ruled by a number of rulers in history. Cuttack was the capital of the state from 1135 till 1948, after which Bhubaneshwar took the mantle.
Orissa was renamed Odisha by the Parliament of India on November 9, 2010. The Oriya language was also simultaneously renamed Odia.
