World Health Day

World Health Day is observed on April 7 every year. This day is dedicated to the health of people and the well-being of the global community.
The history of World Health Day dates back to 1945 when a proposal was first put forward to create an international health organisation. The proposal was initially proposed by Brazil and China in December 1945 and the constitution of the World Health Organisation (WHO) was approved in July 1946. The first World Health Day was observed on July 22, 1949, but the date was later changed to April 7 in 1948 to coincide with the founding of the WHO.
The theme for World Health Day 2024 is 'My health, my right'.

International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (6)

The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is observed every year on April 6. The day is dedicated to recognising the positive impact of sport and physical activity on people's lives and communities around the world. The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace provides an opportunity to recognize the efforts of sporting bodies and communities in making a positive impact on society. It also serves as a reminder of the power of sport to unite people and promote social change.
In August 2013, the United Nations General Assembly in Resolution 67/296 decided to proclaim on April 6 as the International Day of Sport for Development and the Peace. This date commemorates the inauguration, in 1896, of the first Olympic games of the modern era, in Athens, (Greece).
The theme for the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace 2024 is 'Sport for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies.'

International Day of Conscience

Each year on April 5, the International Day of Conscience is celebrated. The United Nations established this day to draw attention to the importance of self-examination and acting morally.
The International Day of Conscience was established by the United Nations General Assembly on July 25, 2019, with the adoption of UN resolution 73/329. The first International Day of Conscience was celebrated on April 5, 2020.
The theme for International Day of Conscience 2024 is 'Promoting the Culture of Peace with Love and Conscience'.

National Maritime Day

National Maritime Day is celebrated on April 5 every year. The day raises awareness about the international economy and promote maritime trade. The day also aims to recognise and honour the achievements of individuals who have made contributions to the Indian maritime sector.
The history of National Maritime Day dates back to 1964, when the first ship of The Scindia Steam Navigation Company Ltd. journeyed to the United Kingdom. This historic event marked the first time that the British had taken control of the country's sea routes, and it was a significant milestone in India's shipping history. The successful journey of the SS Loyalty led to the establishment of the National Maritime Day celebrations, which were first held on April 5, 1964, to inform people and spread awareness about intercontinental commerce and the economy worldwide.
The theme for National Maritime Day 2024 is 'Navigating the future: safety first!'.

International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action

The International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action is observed on April 4, annually to raise public attention towards mine action activities, the land mines, its threats to the safety of mankind and how to work towards its elimination.
The history of International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action can be traced back to 1980 when the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) first proposed the idea of a day to raise awareness about the dangers of landmines. In 2005, the United Nations General Assembly officially designated April 4 as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. The idea for an International Mine Awareness Day was first proposed in 1980 by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The theme for International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action 2024 is 'Protecting Lives. Building Peace'.
