Golgo 13: Manga Creator Takao Saito Passes Away

Manga artist Takao Saito, who created the longest-running Japanese comic book series of all time, died aged 84.
Saito's best-known work was Golgo 13, the tale of a professional hitman, first published in 1968 and later adapted into games and films.
Its 201st edition came out in July 2021, breaking the Guinness world record for the most volumes ever published of a single manga series.
Born in western Japan in 1936, Saito had his first manga cartoon published in 1955, while he was working as a barber.
The success of another of his works, 1960's Typhoon Goro, led him to move from Osaka to Tokyo and launch his own production company.

Ex-Arunachal Governor Y. S. Dadwal Passes Away

  • Former Commissioner of Delhi Police, Yudhvir Singh Dadwal, has passed away. He was 70.
  • Dadwal, an Indian Police Service officer of the 1974-batch, served as the 16th police commissioner of Delhi from July 2007 to November 2010. Notably, the Commonwealth Games were held in Delhi during his tenure.
  • After serving as the Delhi Police chief, he was appointed as the Director-General of the Central Paramilitary Force, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in November 2010. After retiring from the services, he was also appointed as the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh in 2016.

Arunachal Pradesh Advocate General Nilay Dutta Passes Away

  • Arunachal Pradesh Advocate General Nilay Dutta died of a massive heart attack in Coorg, Karnataka. He was 68 years old.
  • Dutta had studied at St. Stephen's College in Delhi and was later involved in the Naxalite movement, for which he was arrested and imprisoned. After his release, he became a bank employee and then a lawyer. He had held the post of Advocate General of Arunachal Pradesh since 2016.
  • Passionate about sports, Dutta has served as President of the Assam Cricket Association and has refereed several international cricket matches. He was also a member of the Union Interior Ministry's High Level Committee (HLC) on Term 6 of the Assam Accord.

Narendra Giri, Head of One of India's Largest Body of Saints, Found Dead

  • Mahant Narendra Giri, the president of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, was found dead at Baghambari Muth.
  • The Parishad is the largest organisation of sadhus in India.
  • Mahant Giri's body was found hanging from the ceiling.
  • A purported suicide note was also found at the site in which the seer had written that he was mentally disturbed and was ending his life. He had also delegated various responsibilities to his disciples in the note.
