Kerala is most Welcoming Region in India Third Year in Row

Kerala ranked most welcoming region in India! Travelling portal Booking.com has announced the Traveller Review Awards 2021 and in it, the booking site has highlighted the most welcoming regions and cities in India.
Even amid a raging pandemic, Kerala was ranked the most welcoming region in the country by the platform, now holding the position for the third consecutive year. Kerala was followed by Rajasthan, Goa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The ranking took into account the hospitality and friendliness of these regions.
The list of most welcoming regions were mostly located in south India, accounting for three out of five regions. While Rajasthan is famous for its rich legacy of palaces and royalties, with forts accounting for most of the tourist destinations, Goa is a popular destination for its party beaches. On the other hand, south Indian states, especially Kerala, are known for the natural beauty and diversity they offer, being known for their eco-tourism.

World's Largest Single-site Solar Power Plant in Abu Dhabi

An hour's drive southeast of Abu Dhabi is the world's largest single-site solar plant. Located at Sweihan in Abu Dhabi, Noor Abu Dhabi (which means 'light' in Arabic) features 3.2 million solar panels. The clean, renewable energy produced here will power the daily lives of 90,000 families in the emirate.
The plant will eventually replace existing conventional gas-fired power plants.
With the capacity to reduce Abu Dhabi's Co2 emissions by one million tonnes, the plant will be looking at an environmental impact equivalent to taking 2,00,000 cars off the roads.
The UAE is diversifying its energy mix and aiming to meet 44 per cent of its needs through clean energy by 2050.

MOT Organises 'DekhoApnaDesh' Webinar on 'Exploring Buddhist Circuit by Train'

The Ministry of Tourism organised an interesting webinar titled 'Exploring Buddhist Circuit by Train' as a part of 'Dekho Apna Desh' Webinar series.
The Webinar focused on promoting and showcasing the rich Buddhist Heritage in India and highlighted the major destinations visited by Buddha personally across the country besides showcasing the Buddhist Heritage left behind by his disciples including the modern monasteries.
Further, the webinar also focused on providing first-hand information to the viewers on arrangements for travel (Especially by Train) & accommodation to the Buddhist Sites in India.
According to Arun Srivastava, Deputy Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Buddhist tourism in India has tremendous potential to draw the 500 million strong Buddhists across the world to "India -The Land of Buddha".

Uttarakhand Working at Putting Harsil Valley on Global Tourism Map

Looking at reducing migration from areas along the Indo-China border, the Uttarakhand government is now working towards putting Harsil valley on the global tourism map.
Harsil valley, which has around eight villages, is located in Uttarkashi district near the Indo-China border. The district administration is preparing a detailed plan which will soon be submitted to the state tourism department. The valley has potential for wildlife and adventure tourism.
Harsil valley has a lot of potential for tourism, but due to poor connectivity not many tourists are able to reach there.
The Uttarakhand government is also working to develop the country's first Snow Leopard Conservation Centre in the region, with the aim of engaging the local Himalayan community in conservation along with employment generation.

Uttarakhand Organises Winter Snow Leopard Tours, Promotes Conservation

The Uttarakhand forest department has decided to begin the first ever snow leopard tours in high altitude areas of Uttarkashi district to promote conservation along with sustainable tourism.
The tours will be conducted in collaboration with the state tourism department and United Nations Development Programme, which has already been working in the area through the Secure Himalaya project (aimed at promoting conservation along with improvement of livelihood opportunities).
A maximum of six participants will be allowed for every tour, who will travel with medical and forest staff. These tours will increase chances of snow leopard sightings as due to peak winters all animals come down to lower reaches.
