The colorful cultural event "Divya Kala Shakti: Witnessing the Abilities in Disabilities" was organized, by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJ&E), Govt. of India in Mumbai. The inauguration began with the Indian National Anthem in Indian Sign Language was followed by a continuous demonstration of potentials of 86 children who are differently abled, in a colourful display of stage through fifteen unique events in the form of dance, music, puppetry, acrobatics etc. in classical, folk and modern style.
The children and youth with different disabilities from the states in the western region such as Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Daman & Diu participated in this event.

Carbon Dating Finds Asurgarh is Odisha's Oldest Fortified Settlement
The Asurgarh fortified settlement, which was excavated by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in Odisha's Kalahandi district, was ascertained to be the oldest among the major fortified settlements in the state. It dates back to the ninth century BC. To determine the age of the ancient settlement, archaeologists deployed the Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) radiocarbon technique, which established the Asurgarh era as spanning over three cultural phases from ninth century BC to second-third century AD. Modern carbon dating methods have not been used to determine age in any of the other excavation sites.
A total number of 417 antiquities have been retrieved from the site. Beads of coral, lapis lazuli, carnelian, glass, jasper, garnet, shell, agate, milky quartz, terracotta, kaolin, and soft stone, and circular discs made out of potsherds and stone, form the richest collection among the antiquities.

Skill India Organized National Apprenticeship Mela 2022
National Apprenticeship Mela-2022 was organized across the country in more than over 700 locations. Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the Apprenticeship Mela at an event in New Delhi. He said the initiative will empower the youth of the nation. He stated that people will be job creators through this Apprenticeship programme. Mr. Pradhan said apprenticeship boosts the confidence level of a person.
The event witnessed participation from more than four thousand organizations across the country, operating in more than 30 sectors such as Power, Retail, Telecom, IT/ITeS, Electronics, and Automotive. In addition, the aspiring youth had the opportunity to engage and select from more than 500 trades including Welder, Electrician, Housekeeper, Beautician, and Mechanic.

Age-old Tongue-piercing Festival is Back in Nepal after 3 Years
Dating back to over a thousand years, the tongue-piercing festival is held on the second day of the Nepali New Year as a part of Bisket Jatra. The festival, celebrated to ward off evil spirits, is linked with the social welfare and well-being of the people. It falls at the beginning of the New Year as per the Bikram Era calendar. The festival could not be observed for the past three years due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the tradition, only the locals of Bode from the Shrestha family can volunteer to get their tongue pierced. The needle is wet in mustard oil for the whole night before piercing the tongue for antisceptic purposes. One who participates in the tongue-piercing festival has to observe fasting for three days, without taking solid food.

40th Edition Of Hunar Haat Begins In Mumbai
The 40th edition of Hunar Haat began in Mumbai. The 12-day event organized by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs is aimed at providing exposure and employment opportunities to artisans, craftsmen and traditional culinary experts from across the country. The event is held in Bandra Kurla Complex in sururban area of Mumbai.
The event will display everything from daily necessities to big and splendid artworks. Besides, one can tickle his taste buds by the specially served traditional delicious dishes and delicacies from different states. Litti-Chokha from Bihar, Rajasthan's Dal Bati Churma, Rabri-Jalebi from Haryana, Chaat from Delhi and Indore's Poha will be available in the event with other veg and non- veg foods.
