IIT Kharagpur Sees Highest Recruitment in its History at 1,600 Offers
The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, ranked 5th in the Engineering category by NIRF Ranking 2020 and 58th by QS 2021 Asia Ranking, recorded the highest placement offers in the history of IITs accounting to 1,600 job offers with the highest CTC of Rs. 2.4 crore per annum. Around 35 international job offers were also received.

Odisha: Naveen Patnaik Launches Mukhyamantri Vayu Swasthya Seva
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated the Mukhyamantri Vayu Swasthya Seva scheme and launched air ambulances for residents of four tribal-dominated districts — Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Kalahandi.
The move, a further boost to his health schemes, comes ahead of the rural polls scheduled for February next year.
Under the new scheme, critical patients can be airlifted to hospitals in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, and specialised doctors, neurologists, nephrologists and cardiologists from various medical colleges and private hospitals, would fly to the four districts under per a pre-arranged schedule to treat patients with severe illness. This is a major step towards providing timely treatment and healthcare facilities. The scheme will soon expand to other locations as well. The state government will bear the cost of treatment in all the cases.
Delhi Cabinet Approves Setting up of Delhi Teachers' University
The Delhi Cabinet on Monday approved setting up of Delhi Teachers' University. The university will offer, among others, four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programmes like BA-BEd, BSc-BEd to help develop a new generation of teachers.
The varsity will prepare highly qualified and well-trained teachers in Delhi itself. 'Delhi Teachers University' Bill 2021 will be placed before the Delhi Vidhan Sabha in the coming session.
Lakshadweep Schools to Adopt Sunday as Weekly Holiday, Friday System to be Discarded
The Union territory of Lakshadweep ended its Friday holiday system. The decision was taken by the Education Department of Lakshadweep and also entails six working days for schools, shifting the weekly holiday to Sunday.
As per the order, the Friday holiday system will be changed to a Sunday system with effect from the 2021-22 Academic year.

IIM-Ahmedabad's Unique Business Programme for Entrepreneurs
The unique Creative & Cultural Businesses Programme (CCBP) at IIM Ahmedabad is curated for entrepreneurs in the creative and cultural industries. It aims to bridge the skill gap among talented artists and to-be entrepreneurs in multiple sectors including the visual arts, creative services, design, entertainment, new media, performing arts, retail, traditional cultural expressions, and publishing and print media.
The founding co-chair at the CCBP, Anchal Jain, spent over 15 years in Paris developing different brands but he always felt that India's artistic heritage has not found its due recognition. "The programme was initially conceived as Crafting Luxury & Lifestyle Businesses (CLLB) but in early 2019, it was remodelled as Creative & Cultural Businesses Programme (CCBP).
UP Government to Introduce 'Happiness Curriculum' in Primary Schools
On the lines of Chhattisgarh and Delhi, preparations are underway to implement the 'happiness curriculum' in primary schools of Uttar Pradesh under a pilot project to make the students more sensitive towards nature, society and the country.
State in-charge (happiness curriculum) Saurabh Malviya, who participated in a six-day workshop at the State Institute of Educational Management and Training, said that the course is being developed keeping in mind the geographical and cultural conditions of Uttar Pradesh.
The happiness curriculum will be introduced to the students of classes 1 to 8.
AICTE Issues Directive to Colleges to avoid Attending Conferences Organised by Countries not Reco...
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) directed all engineering and technical colleges to ensure their faculty members do not participate in conferences organised by countries that are not recognised by the Indian government. The stern directive by the technical education regulator came following an objection raised by the Cyprus government to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) after some Indian academics participated in a conference organised in the occupied part of the Republic of Cyprus.

Word of the Year 2021 by Cambridge Dictionary
In the year 2021 we saw several words getting added to our vocabulary. However, as per the five leading dictionaries, the five words that stood out the most were; vax, vaccine, perseverance, NFT, and allyship.
'Vax' was chosen as the word of the year by the Oxford due to the sheer amount of times that it was used.
The word 'vaccine' was chosen as the word of the year by Merriam Webster.
The word 'NFT', an abbreviation for 'non-fungible token', was chosen by the Collins dictionary as the word of the year for 2021.
The Cambridge dictionary chose the word 'perseverance' as the word of the year 2021.
The word 'allyship' was chosen as the word of the year for 2021 by Dictionary.com amongst various shortlisted words.

IIT Roorkee Bags First Position among most Innovative Institutions as Selected by CII
For the second year in a row, IIT Roorkee was selected by the prestigious Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the Industrial Innovation Awards. IIT Roorkee bagged the first position under the Most Innovative Research Institutions category this year.
The second and third positions went to IIT Madras and the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services, Hyderabad (INCOIS), respectively.
Last year, IIT Roorkee was adjudged as 'The Most Innovative Institute of the Year' for its innovation quotient.
The awards were announced at the 27th DST-CII Technology Summit in the presence of Dr. Srivari Chandrashekhar, Secretary, DST, Government of India and Kris Gopalakrishnan, Past President, CII and Chairman, CII Industrial Innovation Awards.
