Bala Devi, Sandesh Jhingan Nominated for Arjuna Award
The All Indian Football Federation (AIFF) has nominated N Bala Devi and Sandesh Jhingan for the Arjuna Award of 2020.
Arjuna Award is an honour that has been bestowed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It recognises the achievements of the athletes in their respective fields.
In 2019, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was awarded the Arjuna award which made him the 26th footballer to receive this prestigious award.

17 Laureates Conferred with DW Freedom of Speech Award 2020
On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day 2020, 17 journalists from 14 countries have been named for Deutsche Welle Freedom of Speech Award 2020, Journalist Siddharth Varadarajan from India among them, who have disappeared or been arrested or threatened because of their reporting on the COVID-19 pandemic.
From China, three journalists have been selected for this award, while from Turkey two journalists are named for the same.
They are being honoured on behalf of global media professionals who are publishing independent information about the coronavirus pandemic while working under difficult conditions.
Siddharth Varadarajan, one of the founding editors of non-profit online newspage The Wire, was handed a notice for appearance by a police team on April 10, 2020 following a story about a politician violating COVID-19 guidelines by participating in a religious ceremony. The Wire was accused of "causing a riot" and "leading to panic."

Landsberg of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) Australia shares the 'Marcus Wallenberg Prize (MWP) 2020' or 'the Nobel Prize for forest sector' for 3-PG (Physiological Principles Predicting Growth), a model to predict forest growth in a changing climate.

Vladimir Putin Awards Commemorative WWII Medal to Kim Jong Un
Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded Kim Jong Un a commemorative war medal marking the 75th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany, the Russian embassy in Pyongyang said.
The medal was awarded to the North Korean leader for his role in preserving the memory of Soviet soldiers who died on North Korean territory.
Russia's ambassador in North Korea, Alexander Matsegora, presented the award to the country's Foreign Minister Ri Son-gwon.
IIT Bombay Professor Wins Young Career Award
Professor Saurabh Lodha from electrical engineering, IIT Bombay, has received the Young Career Award in Nano Science & Technology for the year 2020 instituted by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government. of India.
This award recognises his pioneering contributions in the development of logic transistor technologies beyond silicon and nanoelectronic devices based on two-dimensional Van der Waals materials.
Professor Lodha's recent work in the area of advanced transistors has been driven by strong industry partnerships.
He has worked closely with Applied Materials, the world's largest semiconductor equipment manufacturer, for the last eight years on technological challenges plaguing beyond-silicon transistors- the workhorse device that fuels over 90% of all electronics.

Indian journalists Wins Pulitzer Prize 2020 in Feature Photography
Indian journalists namely Dar Yasin, Mukhtar Khan and Channi Anand have been honoured with the 2020 Pulitzer Prize. These journalists have won the award in the field of feature photography.
All the three journalists belongs to Associated Press. They have been awarded for the lockdown coverage.
