World Blood Donor Day

Every year on June 14, the world celebrates World Blood Donor Day, an occasion dedicated to recognising the critical role of voluntary blood donors.
The World Health Assembly unanimously declared June 14 as World Blood Donor Day. This day was established in order to emphasize the importance of safe blood donation and to ensure a stable supply of blood for the healthcare industry. The day also serves as a reminder of the crucial role played by blood donors in maintaining the health and well-being of communities around the world.
The theme for World Blood Donor Day 2024 is '20 years of celebrating giving: thank you blood donors!'

International Albinism Awareness Day

June 13 marks the annual observance of International Albinism Awareness Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about albinism – a rare, genetically inherited condition that causes a lack of pigmentation in the skin, hair, and eyes.
This year's (2024) theme, '10 years of IAAD: A decade of collective progress', highlights the collective efforts made over the past decade to promote understanding, acceptance, and support for individuals living with albinism.

World Day Against Child Labour

Every year on June 12, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and its associated partners celebrate World Day Against Child Labour. The day is dedicated to highlight the issue of child labour and encourage governments, employers, labour organizations and society to put an end to child labour for the benefit of world.
The World Day Against Child Labour was first established in 2002 by the International Labour Organization (ILO) with an unwavering commitment to eliminate the issue of global issue of child labour.
The theme of World Day Against Child Labour 2024 is 'Let's act on our commitments: End Child Labour'.

International Day of Play

The inaugural International Day of Play, a momentous occasion dedicated to preserving, promoting, and prioritizing the act of play for all individuals, especially children was observed on June 11, 2024.
Restricting opportunities for play directly impedes a child's well-being and development. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child has enshrined play as a fundamental right of every child under Article 31.

World Oceans Day

World Oceans Day is observed every year on June 8 to remind everyone of the important role the massive water bodies play in the lives of human beings. On this day, we also spread awareness about the dangers facing our oceans and how we can protect them.
The day was first declared at the Global Forum, a parallel event at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro. An event was organised "Oceans Day at Global Forum – the Blue Planet" by the Oceans Institute of Canada and supported by the Canadian Government.
In 2008 the General Assembly passed an official resolution to mark June 8 as World Oceans Day.
'Awaken New Depths' is the theme for World Oceans Day 2024.

World Brain Tumour Day

World Brain Tumour Day is observed on June 8 every year to raise awareness about brain tumours and provide support for patients. The day also offers an opportunity to highlight the need for research to develop new treatments and therapies.
The history of World Brain Tumour Day dates back to 2000, when a Leipzig-based non-profit organization, the German Brain Tumour Association, first proposed that a day be set aside to raise awareness about brain tumours. The day was first designated on June 8, 2000, following a proposal by the German Brain Tumour Association.
'Brain Health and Prevention' is the theme for World Brain Tumour Day 2024.
