Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari Passes Away

  • Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari died at the age of 82.
  • Burari achieved a historic victory in 2015 after three failed attempts and became the country's first opposition candidate to defeat an incumbent President. He was re-elected for another four-year term in 2019.
  • During his time in office, Buhari had to deal with Nigeria's worst economic crisis in decades, influenced in part by a slump in global oil prices.

  • Veteran Telugu actor and former Andhra Pradesh MLA, Kota Srinivasa Rao, passed away at the age of 83. Rao was known for his versatility and powerful screen presence. Rao had a Telugu cinema and theatrical acting career spanning nearly four decades.
  • Rao made his debut in 1978 with the Telugu film Pranam Khareedu and went on to star in over 750 feature films across Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and other Indian languages. Known for his exceptional range, Rao received nine prestigious Nandi Awards in categories including villain, character actor, and supporting actor.
  • In 2015, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the country's fourth-highest civilian award, for his significant contribution to Indian cinema.

Veteran Leader N. Tippanna Passes Away at 97

  • N. Tippanna, a respected leader, lawyer, and former Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council, passed away at the age of 97. Tippanna made major contributions to law, politics, and education in Karnataka.
  • Born on November 23, 1928, in Turuvanur, Tippanna began his legal career in 1954. He served as District Government Pleader and Public Prosecutor in Ballari. He also led the Bellary Bar Association and was Vice President of the Karnataka Bar Council.
  • Politically, he was a strong supporter of Ramakrishna Hegde and joined the Janata Dal (U). After the party merged with Janata Dal (S), Tippanna became the State President of JD(S).

Veteran Socialist Leader Charupara Ravi Passes Away

  • Charupara Ravi, the state vice-president of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and a committed socialist leader, passed away at the age of 77. Known for his unwavering dedication to socialist ideals, Ravi was also serving as the chairman of the party's parliamentary board at the time of his passing.
  • Ravi's involvement in political movements began early in life. From the age of 18, he had been actively engaged in Janata Dal organisations and was a vocal advocate for the common man.
  • Deeply influenced by leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Rammanohar Lohia and Jayaprakash Narayan, Ravi was a strong critic of the emergency, and was jailed for over four months during this period.
  • He served as the Rubber Board vice chairman in 1990, KSRTC director board member in 1996, and devaswom board member in 1999.

  • Bismillah Jan Shinwari's journey to international recognition was rooted in relentless dedication to cricket officiating.   • Shinwari made his international umpiring debut in December 2017, officiating an ODI (One Day International) between Afghanistan and Ireland at Sharjah. Over the following years, he stood in a total of 25 ODIs and 21 T20 Internationals (T20Is), earning the respect of players, coaches, and officials across the cricketing world.

Nigeria Football Legend Peter Rufai Passes Away

  • Peter Rufai, the former Nigeria national football team goalkeeper, passed away at the age of 61. He was known for his role in Nigeria's 1994 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) victory and played in two FIFA World Cups. His death has led to tributes from across the football world.
  • Peter Rufai, also known as Dodo Mayana, was one of the best goalkeepers in Nigeria's football history.
