President's Standard and Colours Presentation to Indian Air Force Units

In March 2024, the Hon'ble President of India, the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, Smt Droupadi Murmu, awarded the prestigious President's Standard to 45 Squadron and 221 Squadron, and the President's Colours to 11 Base Repair Depot (BRD) and 509 Signal Unit (SU) of the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The award of the President's Standard and Colours is the highest honour that can be bestowed upon any military unit. This is the first time in the history of the IAF that four units have been awarded the President's Standard and Colours together in a single ceremony.

Oppenheimer Wins Big at Oscars 2024

Oppenheimer won big at the Oscars 2024 today. Christopher Nolan's film dominated Hollywood's biggest night by bagging seven awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, and Best Film Editing. Meanwhile, Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr won the Academy Award for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor categories for their roles in the film. Meanwhile, Emily Blunt was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category. Da'Vine Joy Randolph won in the category for her role in The Holdovers. India Receives 'Measles and Rubella Champion' Global Award

India was honored with the prestigious 'Measles and Rubella Champion' award in March 2024, for its outstanding efforts in combatting these diseases. Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan accepted the award on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at the American Red Cross Headquarters in Washington DC.
The recognition from 'The Measles and Rubella Partnership' highlights India's steadfast commitment to public health and controlling the spread of infectious diseases among children.

Yatin Bhaskar Duggal Wins First Prize in National Youth Parliament Festival 2024

Yatin Bhaskar Duggal from Haryana won the first prize in the National Youth Parliament Festival, 2024, while Vaishna Pitchai from Tamil Nadu won the second prize and Kanishka Sharma from Rajasthan the third prize.
Addressing the concluding session of the National Youth Parliament Festival in New Delhi today, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said youth's thinking capability, ability to innovate and zeal to work will be instrumental in making India 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.
He said that India will not only be a Viksit Bharat but will also show the path to the entire world. He further added that India today is moving towards modernisation and at the same time is keeping its heritage intact.

Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards

More than 90 artistes from the fields of Indian classical music, dance, theatre, folk art and scholarship were felicitated at the Sangeet Natak Akademi awards.
The ceremony took place at Vigyan Bhavan, for the 2022 and 2023 editions, in 2024, in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, Culture Minister Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, Sangeet Natak Akademi Chairman Sandhya Purecha, and Culture Ministry Secretary Govind Mohan.
Among the artistes felicitated were Hindustani vocalist Kalapini Komkali, playwright Asif Ali Haider Khan, martial artist Gurpreet Singh Khalsa, and dancer Manjula Ramaswamy. A fellowship was also awarded to five artistes.

Tiger Woods Honored with USGA's Prestigious Bob Jones Award

Legendary golfer Tiger Woods was selected to receive the Bob Jones Award, the highest honour bestowed by the United States Golf Association (USGA). This prestigious award recognises Woods' dedication to sportsmanship, his respect for the traditions of the game, and his significant charitable endeavours.
While Woods is widely celebrated for his on-course achievements – including 15 major championships and 82 PGA Tour victories – the Bob Jones Award acknowledges a more holistic view of his impact on the sport.
