Odisha's V. K. Pandian Honoured with FIH President's Award 2023
In the final of FIH Odisha Hockey Men's World Cup 2023 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela, FIH President Tayyab Ikram presented the FIH President's Award 2023 to V. K. Pandian, Secretary to the Chief Minister of Odisha, for his commendable contribution to hockey. The FIH President highlighted the crucial role played by CM Naveen Patnaik along with V. K. Pandian in hosting a glorious Hockey World Cup.
The FIH President's Award recognizes individuals National Associations or other organizations for valuable services to hockey, whether direct or indirect or initiatives which have had a significant effect on hockey at the international level.

Former PM Manmohan Singh Conferred With Lifetime Achievement Honour in UK
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was conferred a Lifetime Achievement Honour by the India-UK Achievers Honours in London for his contribution to economic and political life.
The Honour, announced at an awards ceremony, will be handed over to Singh in New Delhi by the National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU) UK.
The India-UK Achievers Honours by NISAU UK, in partnership with the British Council in India and the UK's Department for International Trade (DIT), celebrate the achievements of Indian students who studied at British universities and the Lifetime Achievement Honour is a nod to Singh's academic achievements at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
The government announced the names of Padma Award recipients for 2023 on the eve of the 74th Republic Day.
President Droupadi Murmu approved 106 Padma Awards this year (2023), seven of whom were posthumous awardees.
The list of Padma awardees which was released included the late Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, Zaki rHussain, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Sudha Murty.
Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian awards of the country, are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma, for excellence in various disciplines and fields of activities such as art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc.
These awards will be conferred by President Droupadi Murmu at ceremonial functions to be held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan around March and April.

Murmu Approves 412 Gallantry Awards, Decorations to Armed Forces Personnel
President DroupadiMurmu approved 412 gallantry awards including six Kirti Chakras and 15 Shaurya Chakras on the eve of 74th Republic Day.
Out of the six Kirti Chakras, four were conferred posthumously. Similarly, two Shaurya Chakras were awarded posthumously.
Kirti Chakra is India's second highest peacetime gallantry award after Ashok Chakra. Shaurya Chakra is the country's third-highest peacetime gallantry award.
The Kirti Chakra award winners were Major Shubhang from the Dogra Regiment of the 62 battalion of Rashtriya Rifles and NaikJitendra Singh of the Rajput Regiment of the 44 Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles.
The Shaurya Chakra awardees were Major AdityaBhadauria from Kumaon Regiment of 50th battalion of Rashtriya Rifles, Captain Arun Kumar from the Kumaon Regiment of 13th battalion of Rashtriya Rifles, Captain YudhvirSinbgh of the Mechanised Infantry of ninth battalion of Rashtriya Rifles and Captain Rakesh T. R. of ninth battalion of the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces).

R. V. Prassad Honoured the Most Distinguished Scientist of the Year Award 2022
R. Vishnu Prassad was awarded "The most distinguished scientist of the year 2022" at Vigyan bhawan, Delhi. Prassad, a scientist with 69 patents was honored with the Indian Achievers Award as the most distinguished scientist of the year. The award recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions in various fields, including culture, science, sports, and innovation. He contributed to smart cities, solid waste management, large-scale water treatment, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, was selected by a jury headed by Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra.
