World Tourism Day

UNWTO was established on this day in 1980 to create awareness on how tourism affects social-cultural, political and economic values globally and the role of tourism within the international community.
World Tourism Day is observed every year on September 27 to mark the anniversary of the adoption of the Statutes of the Organization in 1970, paving the way for the establishment of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is a United Nations' agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism.
The theme for World TOurism Day 2021 was 'Tourism for Inclusive Growth.'

QUAD Leaders' Summit 2021

The first in-person meeting of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD) of India, Australia, the United States and Japan, was held in Washington.
The meeting was participated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with leaders of the US, Japan, and Australia. US President Joe Biden is hosting all of them at the White House.
During the meeting, leaders also agreed to keep a careful eye on Pakistan, as its historic rival has been an instigator of trouble in Afghanistan.
PM Modi shared concerns regarding extremist elements in Afghanistan.
QUAD is a strategic dialogue between India, United States, Japan and Australia. This dialogue was initiated in 2007 by Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe. It was paralleled by joint military exercise called 'Exercise Malabar'.

World Environmental Health Day

World Environmental Health Day is observed globally on 26th September every year. This day is celebrated to shed the light on important work of environmental health around the world. The Theme for the 2021 World Environmental Health Day was 'Ecosystem Restoration'.
Every World Environment Day is hosted by a different country, in which official celebrations take place, and this year's host is Pakistan.
In 2011, the International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH) declared to observe World Environmental Health Day on 26 September.

World Pharmacists Day

World Pharmacists Day is observed on September 25.
World Pharmacists Day was the brainchild of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), with the council of this organization voting to establish the event in the late 2000s during a conference they staged in Istanbul, Turkey. The aim of the day is to bring attention to pharmacies and the positive benefits they offer when it comes to health and FIP encourages all its members to get involved to make the event a success.
Each year the organisation announces a different theme so that associations and individuals in the pharmaceutical industry can put together national campaigns or local projects to showcase the good work they do in helping to improve the health of people around the world.
The theme for World Pharmacists Day was 'Pharmacy: Always trusted for your health'.

SAARC Foreign Ministers' Meet Cancelled

The meeting of SAARC Foreign Ministers, which was scheduled to be held on September 25 in New York, has been cancelled due to lack of consent from the member countries over the participation of Afghanistan, a war-torn country that is now being governed by the Taliban, multiple diplomatic sources at the SAARC have confirmed.
This comes after the Imran Khan-led Pakistan government demanded the member states to allow the Taliban regime in Afghanistan to send a representative at the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) foreign ministers' annual meet, which was to take place on the sidelines of the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
Pakistan's demand was unanimously opposed by all SAARC member countries.
The Pakistan government also wanted the SAARC chair Nepal to guarantee that the erstwhile Ashraf Ghani-led Afghan government will not represent Afghanistan at the SAARC meeting.

International Day of Sign Languages

September 23 every year, marks the celebration of the International Day of Sign Languages. A day that also encourages early access to sign language and other solutions in sign language, such as high-quality education and learning, which are critical to an individual's growth and development.
The date of 23rd September was chosen to celebrate the beginning of an advocacy organisation whose major purpose is to preserve sign languages and deaf culture as prerequisites to the realisation of deaf people's human rights. In 2018, as part of the International Week of the Deaf, the International Day of Sign Languages was first observed.
The 2021 theme, declared by the World Federation of the Deaf, is 'We Sign For Human Rights', highlighting how each of us, deaf and hearing people around the world, can work together hand in hand to promote the recognition of our right to use sign languages in all areas of life.

World Rose Day

World Rose Day is observed on September 22 every year to spread hope and cheer in the lives of cancer patients. The day is for the welfare of cancer patients.
The day is celebrated in the memory of 12-year-old Melinda Rose from Canada who was diagnosed with Askin's Tumour, a rare form of blood cancer. Many people's lives were touched by Rose's short existence. She did not give up hope of survival till her dying breath. In the six months of her life, she fought on and made each day count by positively impacting the lives of people around her.
World Rose Day is celebrated by offering a rose to cancer patients as it is a symbol of concern and tenderness. It gives cancer patients the strength to fight the disease.

World Rhino Day

World Rhino Day is celebrated annually on September 22 to create awareness for all five rhino species namely Sumatran rhino, Greater one-horned rhino, Black rhino, Javan rhino and White rhino.
World Wildlife Fund-South Africa in 2010, announced to celebrate this special day on September 22. However, it was in 2011 the event got international recognition when Lisa Jane Campbell of Chishakwe Ranch in Zimbabwe and founder of Annamitici joined hands with creative director Rhishja Cota to create large-scale awareness to protect the species.
The Rhinos have reached on the verge of extinction due to climate change, poaching and disturbance in natural habitat. This day is celebrated to create awareness among people regarding the importance of this incredible species.
The theme for World Rhino Day 2021 was 'Keep the Five Alive'.
