National Vaccination Day

  • National Vaccination Day is observed every year on March 16 to convey the significance of vaccination as well as its role in public health. National Vaccination Day 2022 creates awareness and sends the message that how vaccination or immunization is the most effective way of preventing highly infectious diseases.
  • National Vaccination Day 2022 also marks India's victory against Polio disease. Notably, the impact of vaccination is not only limited to improving health or life expectancy, it also has a social or economic impact at the community and the National level.
  • National Vaccination Day is observed every year on March 16 as it was the first time on this day that the first dose of Oral Polio vaccine was given in India back in 1995.
  • The theme of National Vaccination Day 2022 was 'Vaccines Work for all'.

Ministry of Rural Development Organizes 'Gender Samwaad'

  • Over 3000 State Mission staff and Self-Help Group (SHG) members logged in from 34 states to attend the third edition of 'Gender Samwaad' organised by the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), Ministry of Rural Development
  • The theme for this edition was 'Promotion of food and nutrition security through women's collectives'. The event was organized as a part of Ministry's Iconic Week celebration theme 'Naye Bharat ki Naari' under Amrit Mahotsava.

World Consumer Rights Day

  • The World Consumer Rights Day is observed annually on March 15. On this day, advocates raise their voices to demand that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected, no matter the product or service in question or the social strata where the consumers belong. All the consumers also must have the power and knowledge to protest against market abuses and social injustices that try to undermine those rights in any way.
  • The World Consumer Rights Day was inspired by former US president John F. Kennedy when he gave a message about consumer rights while speaking at the US Congress on March 15, 1962.
  • Every year, there is a particular theme that is followed while celebrating World Consumer Rights Day. The theme for World Consumer Rights Day 2022 was 'Fair Digital Finance'.

  • Minister of State for Culture, Sri Arjun Ram Meghwal inaugurates Sahityotsav, the Festival of Letters of Sahitya Akademi in New Delhi. The Festival startedwith the inauguration of Akademi Exhibition. The Exhibition showcases Akademi's achievements and seminal events held in the previous year.

Pi Day

  • Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th around the world. Pi (Greek letter "π") is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. Pi Day is an annual opportunity for math enthusiasts to recite the infinite digits of Pi, talk to their friends about math, and eat pie.
  • It was founded in 1988 by Larry Shaw, an employee of the Exploratorium. Celebrations often involve eating pie or holding pi recitation competitions. In 2009, the United States House of Representatives supported the designation of Pi Day.[4] UNESCO's 40th General Conference designated Pi Day as the International Day of Mathematics in November 2019.

National Youth Parliament Festival

  • The national round of the National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) was held on 10th and 11th March 2022.
  • Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Thakur addressed the inaugural session of National round of 3rd edition of National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) 2022 in the central hall of Parliament, New Delhi.
  • Om Birla addressed the valedictory function of NYPF. The top three National Winners also get an opportunity to speak before the Lok Sabha Speaker during the valedictory function.
  • The theme of National Youth Parliament Festival 2022 was 'be the voice of New India and find solutions and contribute to Policy'.
  • The 1st edition of NYPF was organized in 2019.The 2nd edition of NYPF was organized from 23rd December 2020 to 12th January 2021.

Surjakund Crafts Fair

  • The Surajkund International Crafts Mela, which is a major platform for artists across the globe to showcase their culture and talent, will now be held from March 20th to 4th April 2022. This year, Jammu & Kashmir has been chosen as the theme state of Surajkund International Crafts Mela.
  • The event is organised annually by the Haryana Tourism Department in Surajkund. The event has attracted tourists and artists from over 20 countries including South Asia, Africa, and Europe actively participate in making this fair a huge success.
  • Surajkund, meaning 'Lake of the Sun', is an ancient reservoir that was built by King Suraj Pal of the Tomar dynasty in the 10th century.
