37th National Games: Goa to Host Games in October 2023
The Indian Olympic Association confirmed that Goa would host the 37th edition of the National Games in October next year (2023). The state government of Goa also conveyed its in-principle approval to IOA to host the National Games in 2023.
Notably: The 37th National Games would be decided keeping in view the dates of the 19th Asian Games, which will be held from 23rd September to 8th October 2022 in Hangzhou, China.
Goa got the rights to host the National Games in 2008 but hasn't been able to host the games for a number of reasons. Goa was set to host the 36th edition of the National Games but the IOA had to shift the venue to Gujrat, who agreed to conduct the event in a short span of time.
Harmanpreet Kaur and Mohammed Rizwan Seal ICC Player of the Month Crowns for September
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the winners of the ICC Player of the Month awards for September 2022. India's inspirational captain Harmanpreet Kaur was named the recipient of the ICC Women's Player of the Month award, while Pakistan ace Mohammad Rizwan claimed the ICC Men's Player of the Month award.
Harmanpreet received the award for her memorable showing in the ODI series in England.
The Indian skipper beat her deputy Smriti Mandhana and Bangladesh counterpart Nigar Sultana, who also came up with some stunning displays.
Rizwan defeated Indian left-arm spinner Axar Patel and Australian all-rounder Cameroon Green to claim the award. Rizwan was in stunning form in September, churning out some sizzling performances in T20Is.

India Deaf Cricket Team was the only undefeated team in the tournament where India came up with a spirited show with both ball and bat as Men in Blue successfully posted the target of 141 runs and maintained their excellent track record by defeating South Africa by 39 runs in the final match and secured the DICC T20 Champions Trophy at Malek stadium, Ajman, UAE.

Novak Djokovic Clinches 90th ATP Title in Astana Open, Kazakhstan
Tennis star Novak Djokovic clinched his 90th ATP title after registering straight-sets victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final of Astana Open in Kazakhstan.
The 21-time Grand Slam champion from Serbia beat his Greek opponent 6-3, 6-4.
It was the Wimbledon champion's fourth title of the year, including Rome and Tel Aviv.
With the impressive win in Astana, the Serbian player joined Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in the list of players in Open Era with 90 or more ATP titles.
In men's doubles summit clash at the Astana open, Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic captured their fifth tour-level title of the season, downing Frenchmen Adrian Mannarino and Fabrice Martin 6-4, 6-2.
Pooja Patel Becomes First Athlete to Win Gold in Yogasana
At the 36th National Games, Pooja Patel of Gujarat became the first athlete to win gold in Yogasana. Yogasana is one of the five sports played at the National Games this year for the first time. This Indian indigenous sport made its debut at the Khelo India University Games earlier this year.

Graham Reid, Janneke Schopman Get Coach of Year Awards
The Indian men's and women's hockey team coaches, Graham Reid and Janneke Schopman, received the FIH Coach of the Year award in their respective categories.
This is the second consecutive time Reid has won the award, while Schopman won it for the first time.
Under Australian Reid, the men's team reached new heights by winning a bronze, its first Olympics medal in 41 years, at the Tokyo Games. India also won a silver medal at the 2022 Birmingham CWG.
Schopman, on the other hand, got 38.2 points in the voting as she beat the Netherlands coach Jamilon Mulders (28.2) and Australia coach Katrina Powell (19.5) for the coveted award.

Sajan Prakash Wins Gold in National Games 200 Metre Butterfly Swimming
Sajan Prakash overcame an abdominal strain to win the gold medal in the men's 200m butterfly with a new meet record at the National Games 2022 in Gujarat.
Olympian Sajan Prakash, representing Kerala, clocked 1:59.56 in the final to win the gold, beating his own National Games record set at the previous edition in Kerala.
This was Sajan Prakash's second gold medal at the National Games 2022 after the men's 100m butterfly.

Shooting Included in 2026 Commonwealth Games
Shooting will return to the Commonwealth Games roster in the 2026 edition in Victoria, Australia, while wrestling and archery were dropped in a bitter-sweet turn of events for India.
The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and the Commonwealth Games Australia unveiled the full sport programme for the Victoria 2026 CWG, featuring 20 sports and 26 disciplines, including nine fully integrated para sports.
The shooting programme will include air pistol, air rifle, shooting para sport and shotgun trap.
Rest of India Beat Saurashtra to Win Irani Trophy
Rest of India won the Irani Cup title after beating the Ranji Trophy Champion of 2019-2020 Saurashtra by eight wickets in Rajkot. Rest of India (ROI) chased down the 105-run target, with Abhimanyu Easwaran remaining undefeated on 63 runs while adding 81 runs and Kona Bharat not out at 27.
Irani Trophy is also known as Mastercard Irani Trophy. It is a test match format cricket tournament in India. It is played annually between the incumbent Ranji Trophy winners and the Rest of the India Cricket Team. It is organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
