India Loses in Shootout

  • Lower-ranked Korea stunned India 4-2 in the penalty shootout to lift the Azlan Shah Cup hockey title after the five-time champions conceded an equaliser in the final quarter to end at 1-1 after regulation time in the summit clash.

Esha and Sarabjot Strike Gold

  • Esha Singh overwhelmed the field, winning the junior women's air pistol gold by a 5.1-point margin over Yun Seonjeong of Korea in the 12th Asian Airgun Championship.
  • Along with Harshada Nithave and Devanshi Dhama, Esha also won the team silver, seven points behind Korea.
  • In the junior men's event, Sarabjot Singh, who had topped the qualification, won the gold 1.2 points ahead of Kim Woojong of Korea.

  • Saurabh Chaudhary and Manu Bhaker shot the mixed air pistol team gold, along with a world record, in the 12th Asian Air Gun Shooting Championship.
  • Esha Singh and Vijayveer Sidhu captured the junior mixed air pistol team gold.

India Beats Canada

  • India outplayed Canada 7-3 to book a final berth against Korea in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey. Korea defeated host Malaysia 2-1 in another match.

  •  India went to the top of the table of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2019 with a dominating 4-2 win against host Malaysia.
  • After sharing points with Republic of Korea in a 1-1 draw in its second match, India put in a strong performance against an error-prone Malaysia to have one foot in the final.

Australia Appoints Cooley and Griffith

  •  Australia appointed former England bowling coach Troy Cooley for the upcoming Ashes series as it bids to win the urn on away soil for the first time in 18 years.
  • Adam Griffith, a former head coach of Tasmania and assistant to national coach Justin Langer at the Western Warriors, takes charge of the bowlers for the team's World Cup campaign.
  • Their appointments follow the departure of another former England bowling coach, David Saker, who quit in February.
