Saturn's Moon May Help Decode Climate Change on Earth
Researchers found that Saturn's largest moon Titan undergoes significant seasonal changes in its energy budget—the amount of solar energy it absorbs, and the heat it emits—an advance that may lead to new insights about climate fluctuations on the Earth.
It is to be noted that Titan is the only body in the solar system, other than Earth, with a significant atmosphere and liquid surface lakes.

COP25 to Help Nations Deal with Damage of Climate Crisis
The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP25) underway in Madrid is significant because of negotiations on two key issues - resolution of carbon markets dealt with in Article 6, which is pending to be finalised in the Paris Rulebook, and Loss and Damage under Article 8 of the Paris Agreement.
The COP will attempt to put in place a system to help vulnerable countries deal with irreversible or permanent losses from climate change such as ocean acidification, loss of biodiversity (dying coral reefs), sea level rise, desertification or extreme weather events including potentially fatal heat waves, hurricanes or cyclones. India is the fifth most vulnerable country globally to climate change impacts, according the Global Climate Risk Index 2020 published by environmental think tank Germanwatch.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) put out a paper (not a negotiating text) on what parties to the convention think about compensating loss and a review of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage (L&D).
The L&D Mechanism was established at the 19th session (COP 19) in Warsaw, Poland in November 2013.
It aims to promote the implementation of approaches to addresses loss and damage like enhancing knowledge and understanding of risk, strengthening dialogue and action and support, including finance.

Govt. Maps 32 Tiger Corridors, Develops Conservation Plan
The Centre mapped tiger corridors inside and outside protected areas across the country and developed a conservation plan for the big cats, which includes a strategy to streamline infrastructure projects with mandatory inclusion of safe passages.
Union Minister of state for environment Babul Supriyo released the details of the plan in Rajya Sabha. The plan has been formulated keeping in view the all India tiger estimation results released in July, 2019 that showed there were 2,967 big cats in the country and that there has been a 6% annual increase in their numbers since 2006.
The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), under the Union environment ministry, published a document, titled Connecting Tiger Populations for Long-term Conservation, in collaboration with the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun. The document mapped 32 major corridors and detailed the tiger conservation plan under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.

Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Values Damaged by Climate Change
Australia conceded in an official report that the Great Barrier Reef's unique values as a world heritage site have been adversely affected by climate change.
In the report to UNICCO's world heritage committee, the Queensland and federal governments said that the reef is an icon under pressure with a deteriorating long-term outlook.
The committee will review the status of the Great Barrier Reef at its June 2020 meeting in China, with the potential to place the reef on it's in danger list.
As part of the process, the committee asked Australia to submit a comprehensive state of conservation report for the reef – the first since 2015.

The motion urges the commission to ensure that all relevant legislative and budgetary proposals are fully aligned with the objective of limiting global warming to under 1.5 degrees C.
As per Pascal Canfin, the MEP who heads the environment committee, given the climate and environmental emergency, it is essential to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 55% in 2030.
