Swachh Iconic Places: 12 Sites to be Transformed into 'Swachh Tourist Destinations'
The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) under the Jal Shakti Ministry has selected 12 iconic sites that will be transformed into 'Swachh Tourist Destinations' under Phase IV of Swachh Iconic Places (SIP) initiative of Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen (SBM-G).
The announcement takes forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for transforming iconic heritage, spiritual and cultural places in the country.
The initiative aims to enhance the experience of both domestic and foreign visitors to the iconic sites by improving the sanitation and cleanliness standards at and around the sites.

Karnataka Govt. to Develop Nandi Hills as an International Tourist Destination
Nandi Hills, a popular hill station in Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka will be developed as an international tourist destination, said state Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar.
Nandi hills, which draws many visitors from Bengaluru, especially on weekends, to watch the spectacular sunrise, offers a breathtaking array of flora and fauna and is also of historical and spiritual significance to locals. Nandi Hills meets all the qualifications to be developed as an international tourist destination. The government has already sanctioned Rs. 10 crore for the purpose.

TAAI to Hold Knowledge Conclave
Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) will be hosting a national knowledge conclave at Kevadiya (Statue of Unity) in Gujarat between March 9 and 11.

Israel and Greece Sign New Tourism Partnership
Israel and Greece have signed a bilateral agreement on tourism cooperation in Jerusalem, providing hope to an industry which has come to a standstill because of the Covid-19 crisis.
Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs, Orit Farkash-Hacohen, told Greek Minister of Tourism, Harry Theoharis that she looked forward to welcoming Greek and other visitors to Israel, as it continues to vaccinate its population and position itself as a healthy post-Covid destination.
Following a working meeting between the ministers, they signed an agreement to strengthen the cooperation in the fields of research and training in the field of tourism, as well as to promote joined packages and initiatives between the tourism industries in both countries.
