As part of plan to provide relief to the tourism industry, among the worst affected sectors by the pandemic, and to encourage travel activities, the government said that it would offer tourist visa free of charge till March 31, 2022.
As part of the financial relief package for the travel industry, finance minister Sitharaman announced that once visa issuance is restarted, the first 5 lakh tourists' visas will be issued free of charge.
The scheme will be applicable till March 31, 2022 or till 5,00,000 visas are issued, whichever is earlier. The benefit will also be available only once per tourist.

This report recognizes the most valuable and strongest hotel brands across the globe.
Taj received an overall Brand Strength Index of 89.3 out of 100, with a corresponding AAA rating for customer familiarity, employee satisfaction and corporate reputation as well as its world-class customer service.

First-of-its-kind Eco-friendly Forest Trail to Come up in Malabar Hill
Sustainable tourism set to get a boost in Mumbai! Malabar Hill in Mumbai is getting a first-of-its-kind forest trail that would let people take in the serene view of nature. The forest trail is an elevated leisure walkway, the design for which has finally been approved, and it would be built by IMK Architects along with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Tourism Ministry of Maharashtra and the JSW Foundation. However, along with giving a boost to tourism in the city, the walkway is also meant to be environment friendly, and would be built without intervening with the forest. To understand more about the walkway and how the plan of making it eco-friendly would be realised.
Flying Milkha Singh Club for Adventure Sports to Open at Morni Hills
Morni Hills in Panchkula region of Haryana is pegged to become a tourist hub and the groundwork for this has begun. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated the 'Flying Milkha Singh Club' which will be used for training youth in adventurous sports. The club- dedicated to the athlete Milkha Singh- will soon be set up at Morni Hills where many adventure sports, water sports and tourism activities can take place.
Apart from this, the Haryana CM inaugurated other adventure activities as well and this included parasailing, paramotor gliding, paragliding and water sports. Tikkar Taal within Morni Hills also received a water jet scooter. All ministers present drove the water jet scooter and also tried out paramotor gliding. Khattar said that development of Tikkar Taal, Morni Hills area is being done in a way so it can provide international level support in adventure sports.

Thomas Cook, SOTC Launch 'Travel First, Pay Later' Scheme
Thomas Cook India and SOTC are offering customers an option to pay after returning from their holidays and have introduced new safety protocols to attract customers.
The schemes address issues related to health and hygiene during travel and also of financial risk of booking trips during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Customer travel expenses will be funded by a financial institution under the 'Holiday First Pay When You Return' scheme. Thomas Cook and SOTC have tied up with an institution which will carry out quick due diligence and assess credit worthiness of a potential customer. There will be no additional charges payable to the institution apart from the tour cost.
