'Exam Warriors' to be Updated

  •  Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working on a new edition of his book Exam Warriors following the conclusion of the national elections. 
  • He is believed to have suggested an updated edition of the book, which has sold two million copies till now. He wants to write about mental health and about children getting addicted to gadgets in the revised edition.
  • According to its publisher, Exam Warriors is a handy guide for students in India and across the world.
  •  Modi first got the idea of updating the 208-page book during an interaction he held with students taking exams on January 29. During the interaction, a parent complained to him that his child would spend far too much time playing games online instead of studying.This got him thinking about this issue and so it has become a major portion of the addition.
  • The Prime Minister was also struck by the issue of students being depressed about their performance and their mental health in hostels. So he will also write about this in his book.

Book on Rafale Deal

  • The Election Commission (EC) stopped the release of a book on the controversial Rafale deal, citing an apparent violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) before the Lok Sabha poll.
  • The release of the book was to be chaired by N. Ram, the Managing Director of the Hindu Group. It is to be noted that Ram has himself written many news reports on the deal for French-made fighter jets.
  • The book titled "Rafale: The Scam That Rocked The Nation" is written by S. Vijayan.

Coffee Table Book Titled Shirtopedia Launched

  • A coffee table book on shirt industry titled 'Shirtopedia', chronicling the history of the garment since 3,000 BC - was unveiled.
  • The domestic shirts market, which was pegged at Rs. 44,830 crore in 2017, is expected to grow at 6 per cent annually to become Rs. 81,578 crore by 2027, as per the upcoming book.
  • Shirts account for around 12 per cent of the total apparel market in the country.

Chetan Bhagat's New Book 'India Postive'

Best-selling author Chetan Bhagat announced the launch of his new non-fiction book "India Positive", which comprises essays examining a gamut of subjects such as education, employment, Goods and Services Tax (GST), corruption and casteism.
Published by Westland Publications, Bhagat's latest English title will be released in May. The new book also consists of tweets that highlight and touch upon the current issues that need focus today.

Book on War Gets Campbell Prize

  •  Writer Raghu Karnad has won the Windham-Campbell Prize under non-fiction category for his work 'Farthest Field: An Indian Story of the Second World War' published in 2015.
  • He is one of eight recipients of the award handed out by Yale University to English language writers from around the world.
  • The book was earlier shortlisted for the Hessell-Tiltman Prize for 2016, and was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for a writer in English the same year.

Book on Titan Company

  •  A book titled 'Titan: Inside India's most successful consumer brand,' was released by T. K. Balaji, CEO and MD, Lucas TVS Ltd.
  • The book, which traces the 30-history of the watch company, is authored by Vinay Kamath, Associate Editor, The Hindu Business Line.

Aishwarya Punekar Pens Cookbook in Braille

  • Aishwarya Punekar from Dombivli is probably one of the few writers to publish a cookbook in Braille. Her book, Ruchipalat, was originally written in Marathi.
  • She has distributed 90 copies of her book to institutes for blind in Dombivli, Thane Mumbai and Alandi.
