GAIL Receives Multiple Awards in Extel 2025 Asia Executive Team Survey

GAIL (India) Limited received multiple awards in the prestigious Extel 2025 Asia Executive Team Survey, reaffirming its leadership in the energy sector across Asia and India.
Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL, named the Best CEO under two prominent categories: Asia (Ex-Mainland China) - Chemicals, Oil & Gas sector, and Country Leaders - India (Overall), according to a statement from the state-run company.
Rakesh Kumar Jain, Director (Finance), honoured as the Best CFO in the same categories.
GAIL's Board and Investor Relations Program were also adjudged the best in their respective categories, highlighting the organization's commitment to robust corporate governance and transparent stakeholder engagement.
Further strengthening its position, GAIL ranked as the Best Company in ESG Practices in the Extel Country Leaders Survey (India - Overall), and secured the second position in the Asia (Ex-Mainland China) - Chemicals, Oil and Gas sector category.

Kolkata-based Tunir Sahoo, a student from IIM Kashipur, won the India national stage of the James Dyson Award 2025 for his invention 'JivaScope'.
The device — a pocket-sized and AI-powered, allows individuals to self-screen for heart and lung diseases within minutes.
The device is designed to provide clinical-grade diagnostics in low-resource and rural settings.

Camel International Award for Younus Ahamed

Non-resident Indian businessman from Palakkad and executive director of Middle East Dotspace Coworking Younus Ahamed won the Camel International Award 2025 given by the Arabian World Records.
Mr. Ahamed was chosen for the award for his contributions and business leadership. He received the award from Sheikh Matar Bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, chairman of Sharjah Camel Racing Club, at a function held in Dubai.

Indian filmmaker Anuparna Roy wins Best Director award at 82nd Venice Film Festival

Indian filmmaker Anuparna Roy has won Best Director award in the Orizzonti section at the 82nd Venice Film Festival. This section highlights new and indie films. Her film, Songs of Forgotten Trees, was the only Indian entry in this category and tells the story of two migrant women in Mumbai. The award was announced by Julia Ducournau, president of the Orizzonti jury.

Venice International Film Festival Concludes

The 82^nd Venice International Film Festival was held at Venice Lido in Italy.
American filmmaker Alexander Payne served as Jury President for the main competition, while Italian actress and comedian Emanuela Fanelli hosted the opening and closing ceremonies.
German filmmaker Werner Herzog and American actress Kim Novak were awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement during the festival.

Anand V. Patil to Receive Prof. V.K. Gokak Award in Bengaluru

In a celebration of literary excellence, Anand V. Patil, renowned for his contributions to children's literature, will be conferred with the Prof. V.K. Gokak Award in Bengaluru on September 7, 2025.
The award, named after one of India's most influential literary figures, Prof. Vinayaka Krishna Gokak, honoured individuals who had made significant contributions to Indian literature, particularly in Kannada.
