British Indian Chemist in Millennium Tech Prize Winning team for Revolutionary DNA tech

Cambridge University chemists Shankar Balasubramanian and David Klenerman were declared the winners of the 2020 Millennium Technology Prize, a prestigious global science and technology prize awarded for their development of revolutionary sequencing techniques which means DNA can now be read in super-fast times.
The prize, awarded by Technology Academy Finland (TAF) at two-year intervals since 2004, when Sir Tim Berners-Lee was honoured for his discovery of the World Wide Web, to highlight the extensive impact of science and innovation on the wellbeing of society, is worth Euro 1 million.
Sir Balasubramanian, an India-born British professor of medicinal chemistry, and Sir Klenerman, a British biophysical chemist, co-invented the Solexa-Illumina Next Generation DNA Sequencing (NGS), technology enabling fast, accurate, low-cost and large-scale genome sequencing, the process of determining the complete DNA sequence of an organism's make-up, which is proving crucial in humanity's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kaushik Basu Awarded Humboldt Research Award

Indian economist Kaushik Basu has been awarded the Humboldt Research Award for Economics. The award was conferred on him by Professor Dr. Hans-Bernd Schäfer of Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany. A former chief economist of the World Bank, Basu is currently a professor of Economics at Cornell University. He also served as the Government of India's chief economic advisor from 2009 to 2012. Basu is also a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India.
The prestigious award is sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and awarded to as many as 100 recipients each year.
The Humboldt Research Award honours scientists and economists from across the world for their work. The award entails prize money of 60,000 euros and an offer to carry out research projects at a scientific institution in Germany for up to 12 months.

Invest India has been awarded the world's most innovative Investment Promotion Agency 2021 by OCO Global. OCO Global is a leading authority on foreign investment and offers a range of economic development services, products, and unique company assessment tools.
Invest India, set up in 2009, is a non-profit venture under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
It is the national investment promotion and facilitation agency.
Invest India focuses on sector-specific investor targeting and the development of new partnerships to enable sustainable investments in India.
In addition to a core team that focuses on sustainable investments, Invest India also partners with substantial investment promotion agencies and multilateral organizations.
Invest India also actively works with several Indian states to build capacity as well as bring in global best practices in investment targeting, promotion and facilitation areas.

Zila Parishad School Teacher Wins National ICT Award 2018

Zilla Parishad school teacher from Osmanabad in Maharashtra was chosen for the prestigious National ICT Award instituted by the Union government.
Umesh Khose, employed as a primary school teacher in Kad-dora village in Lohara tehsil was chosen for 2018 for using 'Information and Communication Technology' through gadgets like television, tab, mobile, and projectors as well as PDFs to ensure students learn in a better way.
The awards, for the years 2018 and 2019, were announced by the Central Institute of Educational Technology under the National Council of Educational Research and Training (CIET-NCERT) in 2021.

Six Teachers from T.N. Win National ICT Awards

Six government school teachers from Tamil Nadu have been selected for the National ICT Awards given by the Central Institute of Educational Technology, NCERT, New Delhi, for the years 2018 and 2019.
The awards are given annually as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, to motivate teachers to use ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in school education and in their classrooms in a big way.
For the year 2018, S. Ganesh, Manohar Subramanian, and K.B. Dhayananth are among the 25 awardees selected from across the country. For 2019, Senthil Selvan, Thangaraja Mahadevan and R. Elavarasan are among the 24 awardees.
