RBI Foundation Day

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was established on April 1, 1935, in accordance with the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. The Central Office of the RBI, initially set up in Kolkata, was permanently moved to Mumbai in 1937. Sir Osborne Smith was the first Governor of the Bank. The Bank was constituted as a shareholders' bank. The RBI is the central bank of India and is responsible for regulating the country's monetary and credit system. It is also responsible for issuing currency and managing the country's foreign exchange reserves. The RBI works closely with the government of India to formulate and implement monetary and fiscal policies that promote economic growth and stability. It was set up as a private shareholder's bank with a capital of Rs. 5 crore.

Odisha Foundation Day (01)

Utkal Divas or Odisha Day is observed on April 1 every year to celebrate its foundation day. In 1936, it was the first state that was formed on a linguistic basis. Earlier, it was the part of Bihar.
The Indian state of Odisha came into being on April 1, 1936, around a decade before India achieved independence from the British colonisation. The state was established as a separate British India province and the day is celebrated as Orissa Day to encourage the remembrance of the same and foster a spirit of unity among all the citizens of the state.
Odisha is the third state in India in terms of tribal population. It has been ruled by a number of rulers in history. Cuttack was the capital of the state from 1135 till 1948, after which Bhubaneshwar took the mantle.
Orissa was renamed Odisha by the Parliament of India on November 9, 2010. The Oriya language was also simultaneously renamed Odia.

World Bipolar Day

World Bipolar Day is observed each year on March 30, the birthday of Vincent Van Gogh, a renowned artist, who was diagnosed with bipolar after he died. The vision of World Bipolar Day is to encourage understanding about what bipolar is – and isn't – and to banish stigma from the face of the planet.
Initiated by the International Society for Bipolar Disorders (ISBD) in partnership with the International Bipolar Foundation (IBPF) and the Asian Network of Bipolar Disorders (ANBD) in 1999, Word Bipolar Day was created with a vision to bring world awareness to this disease, educate the public on this disorder and eliminate social stigma around this condition.
The theme for World Bipolar Day 2023 was 'BipolarTogether'.

International Day of Zero Waste

International Day of Zero Waste aims to promote sustainable consumption and production patterns, support the societal shift towards circularity, and raise awareness about how zero-waste initiatives contribute to the advancement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
On December 14, 2022, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) adopted a resolution proclaiming March 30 as International Day of Zero Waste, to be observed annually starting in 2023. The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) jointly facilitated the observance of International Day of Zero Waste.

Assam Announces March 31 as Student Day

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu dedicated March 31 as Student Day from this year (2023) onwards. This decision was taken to celebrate the birth anniversary of Upendra Nath Brahma. All education institutes will take part in this historic move.
Apart from this Students' Day celebration, the minister has also decided to launch several education scholarship schemes and fee waivers for female candidates.
This year, the Students' Day celebrations will take place at Shankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati on March 31, 2023.

World Theatre Day

World Theatre Day is celebrated every year on March 27. The day was first observed in 1969 by the International Theatre Institute. Since then, World Theatre Day is celebrated by people around the world with theatre events. This day is celebrated to promote theatre, the day increases the public understanding of the importance of all types of theatrical forms. Many plays are played on social issues, entertainment, and comedy. A theatre is an art form which educates, entertains, and inspires people.
The theme set by the International Theatre Institute for World Theatre Day 2023 was "Theatre and a Culture of Peace."

Purple Day of Epilepsy

Purple Day is a global event that is observed on March 26 to raise awareness about epilepsy and to eliminate common myths and fears related to this neurological disorder. The day also focuses on removing the social stigmas associated with the condition and encouraging people living with it to take action and spread awareness.
The concept of Purple Day was initiated by a nine-year-old Canadian named Cassidy Megan, and was motivated by her own struggle with epilepsy. The first Purple Day event was held on March 26, 2008, and is now known as the Purple Day for Epilepsy. The Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia joined Cassidy and helped to spread awareness of Cassidy's initiative.
